There’s finally an affordable Alexa-enabled thermostat that looks even sleeker than a Nest

The Ecobee3 is easily our favorite smart thermostat, but even when it’s on sale, it still might be a bit expensive for many people out there. That’s why the Honeywell Lyric T5 Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat is such a fantastic option. This Alexa-enabled (and Siri-enabled) smart thermostat features a design that’s almost as hot as the Ecobee3 model, and in our opinion it’s much more sleek than Google’s Nest. Of course, the Lyric T5 also packs plenty of smarts to match all that style, including Nest-like scheduling and location-based features. Oh, and it also costs less than half as much as a Nest.

Here are some key details from the product page:

  • Control your Smart Home with Amazon Alexa for voice control (Alexa device sold separately) and Apple HomeKit with voice control using Siri, the Apple voice assistant
  • 7-Day Flexible Scheduling or Location Based Temperature control (GeoFencing)
  • Adaptive recovery learns how long it takes to achieve the right temperature at the right time and automatically runs your system to get to your desired temperature when you want it, with auto change from heat to cool
  • Smart Alerts – push notifications for filter changes and extreme temperature warnings keeps you informed
  • Easy to install using Honeywell’s exclusive UWP wallplate. Works with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit(TM) and IFTTT
