You can now buy the best flagship phone Samsung has ever made for just $79

Samsung’s Galaxy S5 might not be the most exciting smartphone the world has ever seen, but it’s still easily the best flagship phone Samsung has ever made. It has a gorgeous full HD display, a lightning-fast processor, a shockingly good camera and plenty more that make the Galaxy S5 one of the most capable handsets to date. Sales haven’t been terribly impressive and Samsung’s stock is down more than 12.5% over the past 3 months as a result, but that certainly doesn’t make the device any less appealing to smartphone buyers — and if you’re in the market for a new smartphone, now is the perfect time to consider the S5. Samsung sees an ALS charity campaign as the perfect opportunity to troll Apple again

Samsung’s eagle-eyed marketing team is always looking for clever new ways to troll Apple and make fun of the iPhone, and now it’s decided that the Ice Bucket Challenge — the viral Internet campaign to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for ALS — is the perfect opportunity to make the iPhone and other rival devices look bad. Samsung is already making fun of the iPhone 6 even though it doesn’t exist yet

Samsung has a new Galaxy S5 ad out that makes fun of the iPhone. But instead of mocking the existing iPhone 5s, which outsold the Galaxy S5 in the latter’s first full month of sales despite being eight months old at the time, the company chose to have its fun at the expense of a product that doesn’t yet exist: The upcoming iPhone 6. Cool Samsung video shows how the Galaxy S5 can take you places the iPhone can’t go

Samsung seems to think its new ads that either mock the iPhone’s poor battery life or that tout its own phones’ strong batteries are winners. The company on Friday put out a new video chronicling two men who took the Galaxy S5 with them on a road trip across the United States and didn’t have to recharge it once. More →

Ouch: Eight-month-old iPhone 5s outsold the Galaxy S5 in its first full month of sales

As Samsung’s recent second-quarter earnings pre-announcement made clear, the company’s smartphone business is facing some trouble right now. At the low end, Samsung is getting squeezed by several aggressive budget vendors selling dirt cheap phones in emerging markets. At the top, Samsung is still facing intense competition from Apple and its insanely popular iPhone lineup. In fact, demand for Apple’s flagship iPhone 5s is still so huge that sales of Samsung’s latest hero phone, the Galaxy S5, couldn’t even top iPhone 5s sales in the Galaxy phone’s first full month on store shelves. Second half of Samsung’s Galaxy 11 ad is just as bad as the first

Samsung has finally released the second half of the last #Galaxy11 soccer-focused ad campaign, more than a month after showing the first half between a fine selection of soccer stars – most of whom you may have already seen playing at the recently ended World Cup in Brazil – and a race of aliens who happen to love soccer so much that they’re ready to fight battles with other races (us, specifically) on the soccer playing field. However, the ad showing the second half of the game is just as terrible as the first one. More →

Samsung inadvertently calls the Galaxy S5’s display obsolete

The Galaxy S5 is only a few months old but Samsung is already saying that you shouldn’t be satisfied with its display quality. PhoneArena notices that Samsung has written a new blog post touting the virtues of the new Galaxy S5 LTE-A smartphone and its 5.1-inch WQHD Super AMOLED display. In particular, Samsung says that we shouldn’t “be satisfied with what you’re used to” from other displays, including the Galaxy S5’s own full HD 1080p display. More →

Killer offer lets you try out Samsung’s best gadgets free for 3 weeks

Samsung has been accused of copying a lot of different companies over the years but we don’t think it could ever be accused to swiping a page from T-Mobile’s playbook… until now. Samsung this week has launched a new trial program that reminds us of T-Mobile’s Test Drive initiative that will let you try out T-Mobile’s network for free for a week. In this case, though, Samsung is letting you try out some of its very best gadgets for free over a three-week period. More →
