Apple fans, you finally just got the news you’ve been waiting for: iOS 10 beta 1 will be released today. The news was confirmed on stage during Apple’s big WWDC 2016 keynote, which is still going strong. iOS 10 has a wide range of new features and they won’t be available to the general public until sometime this fall when Apple releases the finished version of iOS 10 alongside its next-generation iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. But in the meantime, anyone and everyone can get their hands on the first early beta build of iOS 10 beginning later today.

OK fine. Technically, the first beta version of iOS 10 is only available to developers who are registered with Apple’s developer program. Of course, probably only about half of the people who pay $99 annually for a developer account are actually developers. The rest are just eager fans who want to get their hands on the latest and greatest software Apple makes long before it’s released to the public in July (sign up at beta.apple.com).

Well, if you fit the bill (or if you’re an actual developer), iOS 10 beta 1 will available to download on compatible iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices later today.

As a reminder, the first beta of iOS 10 is going to include incomplete features and plenty of bugs. It’ll also probably eat through your iPhone or iPad’s battery life faster than binge-watching Game of Thrones in Full HD. But if you’re a diehard Apple fan and you want the latest and greatest iPhone or iPad features long before any of your friends get them, you almost certainly won’t care about the drawbacks.
