How cool would it be to be able to play Pokemon Go in landscape mode on the iPhone? Too cool for Nianic, which would prefer for us to remain mindless portrait zombies. But never fear: unofficially, you can do it, as there’s an iPhone hack that lets you flip your phone
DON’T MISS: Two new videos get up close and personal with the iPhone 7 like never before
Discovered accidentally by a redditor, the glitch lets you fool the iPhone into running Pokemon Go in landscape mode even though the game doesn’t really permit it. Since then, others have been able to replicate the hack, Lifehacker reports, and you can do it too, by following this simple recipe:
-
Open the Pokémon Go app, then hold your phone sideways.
-
Tap the PokéBall icon to open the menu, then tap the Settings icon in the upper-left corner.
-
Scroll until you see “Report High-Priority Issue” and tap it. Then tap “Yes.” This will take you out of the app and open Safari.
-
Hit the Home button, then tap the Pokémon Go icon to open the app again.
Rinse and repeat every time you want to activate landscape mode in Pokemon Go. A reddit thread seems to indicate that there might be ways to play the mobile game in landscape mode on Android as well – check this link.
On the other hand, maybe walking around with the iPhone in hand in landscape mode and playing Pokemon Go at the same time might not be such a good idea. Accidents happen to smartphones all the time.
