There is absolutely no question that Apple’s new iOS 10 software is a mixed bag. On one hand, it’s easily the best mobile operating system Apple has ever released, packing tons of new features that iPhone and iPad owners are going to love once it’s released to the general public this coming September. But on the other hand, there’s really not any innovation to be found at all. In fact, some might say iOS 10 is actually pretty boring.
Of course, we don’t know all of the new features Apple has planned for the final version of iOS 10, but we moved one step closer to a public launch today when Apple released its second iOS 10 beta. Will iOS 10 beta 2 finally unlock the dark mode feature we all know was hiding inside Apple’s first iOS 10 beta? You’ll just have to download it to find out.

Apple released the first beta of iOS 10 on June 13th, shortly after its big WWDC 2016 keynote. The software might not have been terribly exciting, but it was actually shockingly stable for an early iOS beta. In fact, we would go as far as to say that iOS 10 beta 1 was the most stable first iOS beta Apple has ever released. Of course, there were still plenty of bugs that needed to be squashed.
iOS 10 beta 2 addresses a number of those bugs and polishes plenty of other things as well. Now, it’s available for download.
We all know iOS 10 betas are supposed to only be available to iOS developers at this point, but anyone and everyone can register a developer account and download the beta for themselves. In fact, you don’t even need a developer account anymore, and we told you how to install the iOS 10 beta without a developer account in an earlier post.
Whether or not you’re actually an iOS developer, it’s time to update your iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices with Apple’s latest iOS 10 build. The new version, iOS 10 beta 2, is available as an over the air (OTA) update or as a direct download from Apple’s developer site, though the download files haven’t been made available there quite yet. If you choose to wait and use the latter option, you’ll have to use iTunes to install the update.
