Mac sales slow in April according to NPD

Computers

Sales of Apple’s Mac line of personal computers slowed in April, leaving a question mark for analysts who have lofty expectations of Apple computers in the June quarter. Industry tracker NPD Group on Monday issued its estimates for Mac sales in the month of April. While the firm found that sales did grow compared to the same month last year, growth has slowed substantially. NPD says Apple shipped 9% more Mac computers in April 2011 than it did in the same month last year, but analysts are expecting shipments for the full quarter to jump 22% over 2010 to 4.2 million units. The decrease in growth is attributed to the fact that Apple refreshed its MacBook Pro line in the middle of April last year, but analysts obviously accounted for that when issuing estimates for Apple’s fiscal third quarter.

iBGR is back…but poor sales for Apple is great news for me and the rest of anDroid nation!

Why is this great news for you? Do you work for Microsoft, or perhaps Red Hat? If not, there’s really no good reason to get excited about this.

Fanboyism for the sake of fanboyism is stupid.

What do poor Mac computer sales have to do with androids?

      • Anonymous

Simple. Android devices, the least capable of the thousands, are more powerful than a macpro with 8 processors.

As much as I hate Norm, I don’t think you could ever be a Norm, Goofan. Give it up.

        Dear Mr. Nugget,

It’s obvious that you bought a MacPro and by now are embarassed because you know that a simple Android device would have been able to do all the things you do in a machine thousands of dollars more expensive.  So I understand your frustration.

As for hating Norm, you can’t because you don’t know him.  You don’t know the POWER that comes out of his pores as an amazing Android lover.

Negro please. Norm was born from the pimple that grew on my dog’s anus. I do own Android devices as well as idevice, and so far Android hasn’t done anything that iOS devices couldn’t do. Matter of fact, there are things that iOS could do things even better than Android. Anyone who has played with both and are not blinded by idiotic fanboyism could see that. fanboyism could see that.

I have an Android Phone and a Macbook Pro.
You are some kind of Android Fanboy. My phone is not as capable as my laptop. I use both constantly and the laptop runs circles around the phone. Don’t get me wrong, I really like my Android phone, but it is not a full fledged computer and will not be for a while to come.

The type of growth Apple has been experiencing cannot be sustained at the same ungodly levels forever.

    • Shanghai Dan

Yep. The Apple Fad is starting to fade, and it’s not longer “hip” and “trendy” to have Apple gear.  So sales will start to fall, and something else will become the “must have” brand.  And with that, Apple will come crashing back to earth, never to reach those promised “trillion dollar valuations” we heard about.

I don’t think so. I believe Apple is just getting started.
