iPhone rumors, iPhone rumors, and a few more iPhone rumors

mobile

With Apple set to unveil its next-generation iPhone(s) on Tuesday, the rumor trough is overflowing with more Apple juice than even the most dedicated fans can handle at this point. According to the mill, Apple is set to unveil about a dozen various iPhone models this week, ranging from a modest update to be hawked on the cheap to a teardrop-shaped overhaul that will feature a 4-inch display and a unibody aluminum design (perhaps similar to the mock-up seen above). In fact, all leaks accounted for, we’re looking at a tweaked entry-level iPhone 4 with 8GB of storage and a budget-friendly price tag, an iPhone 4S due in black and white with 16GB and 32GB variations, and an all new iPhone 5, also in black and white, with 16GB, 32GB and maybe even 64GB capacity options. Oh, and that’s all in addition to a 3G-enabled iPod touch with iPad-like data plans.

Totally plausible, right?

If you’ve been snoozing this weekend, here’s a quick rundown of what you missed:

  • Here it is, folks — the somewhere-between-free-and-$350 8GB iPhone 4, model N90A, that’s ready to decimate the entry-level, mid-range and prepaid smartphone competition. Maybe. Gizmodo Brasil has images of parts reportedly taken inside Foxconn’s Brazilian factory.
  • Wondering if “iPhone 4S” is just a name dreamed up by blogs as a placeholder for Apple’s supposed A5′d iPhone 4? Nope — apparently it’s real, and 9to5Mac found references to the device in the latest iTunes beta.
  • Well if there’s a new cheaper iPhone 4 and an iPhone 4S, that means the mythical redesigned “iPhone 5″ is nothing but a pipe dream, right? Wrong again! Engadget has a screenshot of RadioShack’s inventory system, which clearly now includes 16GB and 32GB iPhone 5 models headed to AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Sprint. They should fit nicely in the iPhone 5 cases now appearing in AT&T’s inventory system.
  • Also, TUAW snagged a couple screenshots of a Cincinnati Bell snafu; the regional carrier accidentally posted entries for the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 in its prepaid phones section. That’s right, not only is Apple pushing its new iPhones to regional carriers now — but still not to T-Mobile — but the new handsets will also all be available with prepaid plans.
  • Oh, and once these dozen or so iPhones hit the market this month alongside iOS 5, we can also look forward to “Assistant” voice controls and iOS app rentals. Sweet.

Skeptical that all these leaks paint an accurate picture of the iPhone landscape come Tuesday? You’re not alone. There have been enough rumors, leaks and plants this time around to make anyone’s head spin. The only thing we can safely say for sure, of course, is that the mystery will be behind us shortly after 10:00 a.m. Pacific, 1:00 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday. Be sure to tune in to BGR on Tuesday for all the official iPhone news as it breaks.

Arrgh the suspense is killing me why would they wait so long just to release something minor I think that they are going with two new phones to exhibit their new software ….. Tuesday can’t come fast enough would love a slightly bigger screen running iOS .

    • His Shadow

I’m going with speculation presented by others that the delay was in polishing iOS 5. And who knows? iCloud debut? I don’t expect that the phone will change significantly.

  • His Shadow

iPhone 4S. Same body, same screen, dual core, *maybe* 4G, iOS 5, 64Gig option, iPhone 4 becomes second stringer, cheap or possibly free, maybe pay as you go.

    There. Come back Tuesday evening.

Spins me out people actually like android. You seriously must just hate apple a want something the opposite. Android is exactly that, the opposite. Its absolute crap. The samsang galaxy s2 is the most spec’d up phone at the time I checked out android and it still ran laggy and the UI was terrible. Wake up android fanboys. Admit a product is far superior than yours, don’t just buck iPhones because your an apple hater.

you must be one stupid moron…so you know better than all the tech sites that gave it the best reviews around? ok i think from now on i will follow you and read your reviews on handsets since your such an expert…muppet.

galaxy s2 is the best android phone out at this moment of time..its smooth, slick and has great battery life..with the new updates that we get it just gets better and better..so before you blurt your crap out actually go and do some research first….

on a different note…IS IT A BIRD, IS IT A PLANE..NOOOO ITS iSCROATTT….LOL TROLL FACE

You sir are talking rubbish, ive had the sgs2 since may, this phone rocks before it i had the ip4. if you wanna talk lagg the latter is very laggy compared with the sgs2. Drop any movie format any music format (no conversion needed) & it plays it without a hiccup.
Apple are trailing behind the curve, they simply cannot keep up.

I have an ipad 2 and an Android phone.  IOS is garbage compared to android.  I have rows and rows of icons and I can NEVER FIND ANYTHING.  It’s so much easier to find what you are looking for on Android.  In the time I can check my mail, weather, and calendar widgets, I’d be swiping from one page to the next on IOS, looking for my first program’s icon.

    • Anonymous

And my second biggest gripe with ios is how they don’t load the entire web page when you visit a web page.  Scrolling past stories that you don’t want to read is a PITA on ios.  It’s always blank.  On android, it’s always there.

all this hype watch it be the samething as all the others

As a VZW customer and one that would never buy an Apple product, I will have to seriously consider the iPhone 5 when I can see it up next to the Nexus Prime and HTC Vigor.  I can’t see Apple making as poor of a decision as Motorola did by releasing an outdated phone with only a 4 week window of opportunity.

If the iPhone 5 delivers on screen quality and performance, I may have to be a convert.

I agree… as a Blackberry fan – im tired of waiting for the next cool thing. I do like the newest phones from BB… but not quite enough to lock in for 2 years. I am also tired of seeing commercial & ad after ad saying “Get the iphone app” – yes… a million apps out there.. 300K fart apps… but, the really cool apps are all for the iphone.

  • Ajax

I have an idea, why not wait until tomorrow when you can post some facts for a change?

  • Anonymous

Not that it matters what my opinion is, but I’d be disappointed if the physical design didn’t change a bit. I find the iPhone 4 a little weird feeling in the hand — although it’s pretty. I also understand companies can do whatever they want, but after waiting over a year, you hope they could make some physical improvements. Will see!!! They did a great job with this iPhone 4, so I’m excited to see what they cook up. Ha. Cook, get it??
