T-Mobile enhances FamilyTime plans, adds promo myFaves plan and unlimited M2M on individual plans

News

T-Mobile customers will be happy to learn of some changes the company is rolling out some positive new plan changes. Nothing too crazy, but we’d be hard-pressed to find someone who would turn away free minutes or features. Let’s have a look:

Individual Plans

  • We’re adding unlimited mobile to mobile on all single line plans at $49.99 and higher, at no additional cost.

Family Plans

  • New promotional myFaves plan for $89.99 that includes 1800 minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, unlimited mobile to mobile and my Faves.
  • Adding 500 additional minutes to the $99.99 and $129.99 FamilyTime Plans at no extra cost.
  • For the $119.99 and $149.99 myFaves for families plans, we are adding 500 minutes, and we are lowering their prices by $10.

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows however, as there are a few changes T-Mobilers might not be so excited about. The Family Allowances introductory period is now over and the service will run new users $4.99 per month as opposed to $2 (we knew that was coming though so it’s hard to complain). Also, it looks like data plans have been shuffled around for some accounts as we’ve seen two reports of the $20 internet option disappearing in favor of the newer $25 unlimited web + 400 messages option. We can confirm the $20 add on is still available on several types of accounts however, so don’t worry just yet. In the end, the positives certainly outweigh the negatives so good show, T-Mo.

@papi. Youre honestly claiming the Wing is a competitive phone? It was out of date almost from the time it was introduced. Not to mention the fact tMo only dropped the price to $200 from $300 in the past month. Other carriers have already gone 2 product cycles past it, first with the faster wing type models (tilt, etc) and then the touch diamond/pro series. Tmo’s Wing replacement is a 2nd gen model in that series.
I’ll give you the Memoir and Behold, tMo does have a leg up in that area, but even then, they arent that good picture wise… Seen any pics from a Memoir? Unless youre in great lighting, everything loses contrast and gets washed out.
Now keep in mind, i was NOT knocking on tMo’s service. Like i said before, im using a 1st gen iPhone on tMo and it works great. Their customer service is fabulous. But repeated studies reported here and on other sites have all stated that phone selection is increasingly becoming one of the key factors for customers. TMo isnt making themselves stand out enough in that regard and its going to end up hurting them in the end. Just look at today’s updates here on BGR… MetroPCS scoring the QA30. And what does tMo have in that segment?the samsung gravity. Thats it.
Dont take what im saying as hating on tMo. Its more like tough love. Its dissapointing to see them consistently fail to make themselves stand out. Like with UMA… Um, why arent they promoting the hell out of this? Especially with other carriers starting to put out their femtocell offerings, tmo’s advantage is quickly dissappearing there. And again, the phone selection for UMA phones sucks. Theres pretty much the blackberries, the one single winmo phone, and a smattering of free junk phones that do it. Hell, even the G1 doesnt have it, even though the hardware is capable of it. Again, no excuse.
