BlackBerry super-phone in the works, Storm 2 and 3 coming soon

Exclusive

We don’t have too much info to go off of at this point in time, but if you are still waiting to get your hands on the Pearl Flip 8220, Curve 8900, Bold, or Storm, we’re about to screw you up real quick. We’ve now confirmed from 2 independent sources that RIM is working on a device that will blow the roof off all previous models. Ready for it? 5 megapixel auto-focus camera, 1GB of RAM so your precious worthless apps don’t cause memory leaks, and a “near-HD quality” screen. We’re honestly not sure about the form-factor but we heard this device could be sort of a Bold and Storm mashup. Either Treo-esque or a slide-out device. One last thing… we have also heard from a different source that RIM is hard at work on a second generation Storm device and they’ve even started the first stages of a third generation Storm. That’s all we’ve got for now, but you know we’ll be on this quicker than a plus-sized girl on a jar of Mayo. Who’s your favorite blogger?

    DIMS AND NICKELS PRINCIPLE

Because of this principal the storm is actually competing with its line existing Blackberries or even the Bold, but not iphone or the X1 or HTC’s Pro’s, so they wanted to apologize for not meeting expectations to compete with iphone, but now they want you to buy this current model and sign a contract for 3 years! Then next two months they would release a new model (Might meet expectations) that you have to pay $$$$ full price same as the iphone…..4GB, 6GB, 8GB..

IT’S MORE APOLOGETIC… NOT TO BRING HOPE

Every time I think about the BlackBerry Storm, my heart beats fast, I am glad there’s already a fans website out there for the forum, for those that don’t know, it’s http://www.Storm-BlackBerry.com

“1GB of RAM so your precious apps don’t cause memory leaks”

more memory == less memory leaks?

umm, that’s not how it works.

more memory simply means more memory for bad apps to leak. fix the apps to fix the memory leaking.

And of course Sprint is SOL. I’m waiting for the Bold let alone the Storm or Storm v2!

  • Sc rew U BGR

BGR is a phoney. Mr VZW/RIM Hater here is releasing “Independent Sources” who seem to know something about this.

Besides, who cares if there is a successor. Of course there is a follow up. But did BGR report that the original iPhone was a dumbed down, appless, 3G-less version because ATT had (*and still does*) a crappy 3G network.

If you keep waiting for the next big thing — you’ll be waiting forever. You waited for the apple iPhone, then heard there was an iPhone 3g. Then Blackberry started talking about the Thunder/Storm. Now there is rumor of an iPhone VZW or maybe the Blackberry Storm 2 and then 3.

Let’s think of this logically. What good does launching them anywhere close do for Blackberry? How long has the Pearl been out? Yeah, they launched a few updates to it, but its been like 3 years.

Remember also, ATT said they had the best coverage, least dropped calls, and fastest 3G network. This was all based on “Independent Sources.” If you use them, you know none of that is true.

How in the world you have 2nd and 3rd generation in the works and you can’t even get the 1st generation out the door and in the market….unbelievable in my opinion.

  • Narg

Does it still require middle ware to collaborate?…

Then forget it. Until Blackberry removes the need for middleware, the BB is at the bottom of my list.

  • mikee

man…does this mean i should wait it out.

  • BROWN

WHEN IS THE STORM 2 COMING OUT AND WILL IT BE FOR SPRINT. WE NEED THAT TOUCH SCREEN BLACKBERRY ASAP!!

  • Kenneth

First get the Bold, then if you can hold out a little longer, wait the 2nd or 3rd Gen Storm. It will be SOOOOO worth it!

  • Ryan

If you believe this post, you’re only subjecting yourself to hype. The Blackberry Storm doesn’t even have solid ground yet…RIM will surely make sure that has a solid application foundation before it pushes towards more devices. Surely there’s going to be new devices, but I’d say the Storm has the RIM spotlight for the next 1 1/2 years.

I came here by searching google. The thing is that a friend who works verizon complimented my storm. Then told me to return it soon and wait for the second generation to come out. He said that his call center is getting hit by users who have some issue with their phone. He said that they are looking to release a newer curvier storm to fix some issues and upgrade the phone. Looking for more info cuz I just got my storm and don’t want to keep it if a new one will be coming out soon. Oh and this comment is written on a storm.

  • SUPERSLOTH

    the storm needs 2b 100mm x 50mm x 13mm with 8MP wide angle (N86) FM radio, wi-fi, hot swap slot, then i’ll buy it! “)

confirmed mail from my service provider

so yeah its not a hoax!

  • Don Landis

So many rumors. If the new Storm 2 does not change the screen I will move to make the Iphone work somehow in my plans.

  • CJ

First of all, the reason why they’re working on a storm 2 already is because it’s an all touchscreen model, with no physical buttons (call/menu/back/end), which does not have the surepress technology.

The Storm is coming up on it’s one year anniversary and it’s been vastly improved from it’s original state. For those of you that still hate on the Storm, you’ve violated the cardinal rule of new technology: don’t push it aside because it’s buggy at it’s launch, stick with it and see how it improves. The Storm 5.0 betas are amazing and it’s going to reach a peak before the end of this year. If you’ve refused to check out the Storm because of the rumors, give it a chance, its a phenomenal device with a one-of-a-kind touchscreen.

I work with phones every day, and though there are never any guarantees with the quality of any device, I’ve never seen a company build on what they’ve started like RIM does. They do a phenomenal job and I place a lot of faith in their ability to innovate.

why does everything new go to at&t first?

sorry but… at&t sucks. i know this from experience. i give them props for being 90 times better than tmobile but.. they still suck. just as someone said, they rave about the fastest 3g network but if youre not in the HEART of one of those cities, youre NOT getting 3g. ANYWHERE other than a city with at&t youre going to get 2g (edge). we just started to get into 4g/wimax speeds and at&t’s (beep) is STILL mostly in 2g. i never was really a verizon fan but you have to give it to them. verizon is the best as we speak in network speed and WAY more 3g network than any of the others. if apple and other companies would introduce their products to CDMA companies first, they would be a better success. look… see? even that new garmin nuvi phone is coming out. who do they choose to promote their product first? at&t. i dont get it..

i guess apple finally bumped their heads and decided to make the iphone available to verizon. its just a fact- CDMA is better than GSM.

ok… but i wasnt even on topic with the discussion. honestly… im not a fan of the iphone or anything of apple to be exact. why- i dont know but if i had to choose, as a guy, id have to go with the blackberry storm, bugs or not.

the thing i think bb forgot about is a calculator

  • Ace

What did you mean by the “you can’t even get the 1st generation out the door and in the market”? 1 million plus sales and its not out the door? Its you who is unbelievable.LOL

  • Felipe de San Jose

Storm sounds great. However, I would feel stigmitized using it since The Joker at the WH uses one.

  • Rich

So will it incorporate the latest processors on the the market. The Samsung (A9?) and the snapdragon chip running a 1 ghz would be a welcome addition to its current processor.
