Brand new Galaxy S8 report confirms what we already know

February 1st, 2017 at 9:32 AM
Galaxy S8 Rumors Specs And Size

The Galaxy S8 will supposedly be about as big as the Galaxy S7, but a new report offers actual schematics based on an eyewitness account. The report also seem to confirm what we already know about the next Samsung flagship, which is expected to make its debut at some point in late March.

There won’t be an “edge” branded Galaxy S8, CNET Korea has learned, but there will be two differently sized Galaxy S8 models in stores. Both of them will have curved edges, although the curvature has been reduced compared to previous edge versions, to avoid accidental touches.

The phone should be available in 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch sizes, with the screen taking over the most part of the front side.

The home button is embedded in the display, the report notes, and you can expect soft keys to appear on the screen for the back and menu buttons. However, the fingerprint sensor will be placed on the back of the handset, just as seen in a recent leak, next to the camera.

CNET explains that the home button isn’t placed in the center of the phone, under the camera, as most people use the device with their right hand, and the right index finger would touch that precise location. That won’t make the button any less awkward to use, not to mention that there are plenty left-handed phone users out there, and users who may want to associate different fingerprints with different phone functions.

The report also indicates the Galaxy S8 will feature but a USB-C and 3.5mm headphone jack, just as previously rumored.

The following schematics also show the purported design and measurements of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, as featured on CNET.
