The company is expected to further detail the next version of Windows Phone at its special media event on January 21st, making it available to interested users and developers via a special Phone Insider application that has already been listed in the Windows Store.

Using the app, Windows Phone owners could upgrade their devices to Windows 10, although the initial beta will be limited in features, as the company is looking for feedback from users.

According to the publication, the next Windows Phone operating system will be a mix of Windows Phone and Windows RT, as the company wants to align its mobile, Xbox and desktop software versions to offer users the same experience, both when it comes to user interface and access to apps.

Microsoft is expected to unveil several other Windows 10 features on January 21st, including the special new browser it has conceived for the operating system, referred to as Spartan in recent reports.
