Just over six months after Daredevil’s second season premiered on Netflix, Marvel returns to the streaming service with a new show: Luke Cage.
When we last saw Luke, he was recovering from a serious case of Kilgrave’s mind control in Jessica Jones. Mike Colter (Luke Cage) has said in interviews that we’ll “still feel the residue of Kilgrave” going into the first season of his show.

But you might want to forget about the rest of the Marvel-Netflix universe going into the latest show, because despite the fact that night nurse Claire Temple is set to have her most substantial role since the first season of Daredevil, many of the characters and storylines of Luke Cage will be completely fresh.
You can see many of those characters below, in the show’s final trailer:

“A hoodie-wearing, unbreakable ex-con fights to clear his name and save his neighborhood,” reads the official description for the show on Netflix. “He wasn’t looking for a fight, but the people need a hero.”
All 13 episodes of Luke Cage season 1 will be available to stream on September 30th. Iron Fist and The Defenders are set to follow in 2017.
