Apple last night rolled out a brand new ad for Apple Music featuring none other than Drake. That Apple managed to snag Drake for its latest ad shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given the rapper’s already close relationship with Apple’s music arm. In fact, you might even remember that Drake helped introduce, albeit somewhat awkwardly, Apple Music when it was first unveiled last year.

The current Apple Music ad begins with Drake intensely pumping some iron while listening to some rap music. As his lifting partner exits, the two enthusiastically exclaim, “No mercy!” Once Drake is alone, he swiftly takes out his iPhone and switches things up with a curated Apple Music pop playlist. After selecting Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood”, Drake gets his swerve on, starts dancing and tries to throw up 225 on the bench press.
Of course, not everything goes as smoothly as Drake intends.
The commercial, which uses the familiar tagline Distractingly Good, carries a similar theme to a previous Apple Music ad featuring Taylor Swift. In that particular ad, Swift is running on a treadmill while singing Drake’s “Jumpman” before she gets caught up in the music and falls flat on her face.

Now as for how Apple Music is doing overall as a standalone service, well, that’s hard to say. Apple’s streaming service is certainly growing at a respectable clip, with Apple last indicating that it had 17 million subscribers. Spotify, however, continues to grow faster than Apple Music, with Spotify CEO Daniel Ek all but stating that his company now boasts more than 40 million paying subscribers.
