AT&T Tablet Subsidies End

How pointless are LTE tablets in the age of data caps? So pointless that AT&T (T) has concluded that it won’t even subsidize them anymore. Per Engadget, AT&T has apparently concluded that it’s not worth subsidizing tablets on its network anymore even if users agree to a two-year deal, because the company has completely pulled the plug on its tablet subsidy program. This means that users will either have to buy a Wi-Fi-only tablet, or they can pick up an LTE-enabled tablet that will not only cost significantly more in terms of retail pricing, but also more in terms of data plan fees as well. Needless to say, this decision can’t be good news for the recently-released LTE BlackBerry Playbook whenever it becomes available in the United States.
