Apple iPhone 4S to feature separate camera flash?

9to5Mac is reporting that the next iPhone, the iPhone 4S as it’s being referred to, will feature the LED flash for the camera on the opposite side of the case. There have been reports from a small group of individuals experiencing camera problems due to the iPhone’s built-in flash, and this looks like a way to solve the issue. As much as I may not like the iPhone….I gotta say that they have got this right. Putting the flash away from the lens = better pics.

It mostly affect the few that have cases that reflect the flash light back into the lens. My wife’s iPhone 4 case does that. Too many case makers opted for a single port for both lens and flash, now they will be forced to create two ports to eliminate the reflection issue. That and the white iPhone camera may work better too.

My OG DROID takes better shots. Additionally my DROID Thunderbolt and DROID Incredible have 8MP CAMERAS which make them better than the iCrap.

Its sounding more and more like the iPhone 5 is just a small upgrade from the 4th gen. Josh at Thisismynext keeps claiming his sources are right about a complete overhaul with the 5th gen. We’ll see which is true.

You can’t expect Apple to keep putting out totally new re-designs of the same form factor every year. There is only so much you can expect to change until you run out of ideas. They’re banking the ideas so in it’ll take longer before it becomes dull

i hate this idea… nothing wrong with the flash being next to the camera like in my iPhone4… hope this belongs to another phone because i will feel stupid carrying the flash in my pocket and it will remind me the Sony Ericsson T68i snap-on camera good ‘ol times.

I think they mean the flash is a separate module from the camera sensor as you can see in the photo, not an actual unit you attach. The location of the flash might change is the issue.

Moving the flash further away form the lens would make sense, as that is the easiest way to reduce red eye.

How can apple change the cameras from upgraded cameras with the flash to now downgraded with no flash… There is no way apple paid millions of to change features on the 3G, 3Gs to the iPhone 4
