Orbitz launches iOS and Android app

mobile

If  you’re a traveling iOS or Android user out there, the new Orbitz mobile apps may help make your life a little easier. Orbitz just let us know that they have launched a dedicated app for not just Apple’s iOS platform, but for Android as well. You can search through flights, hotels, cars all from your device and even book full trips. That’s in addition to checking your flight status, finding deals, and more. Orbitz is the first major online travel agency to launch native apps to assist their customers, regardless of platform.

What does that mean????? Kayak has been out for quite some time…

Kayak is a metasearch company. They don’t sell travel, just show you which outlets sell it at which price. I like the app. For a version 1, the functionality is great.

Mobile bookings are the future for travel, and this is the first app that lets you book air car and hotel.

Terrible app. It doesn’t look like it’s been optimized for the retina display. You’d think a travel giant like Orbitz would have some cash to spend on a decent iPhone application. Oh well.

The UI looks like trash on my Droid X as well

Too bad that Orbitz is awful.

I ordered a hotel from them only to arrive and it was overbooked. They refused to find me another hotel and left me in Nowhere, Missouri at midnight with nowhere to sleep.

Use a service that stands by their bookings.

I thought Orbitz was dead now that American Airlines is pulling out of it.
