BioShock 2 propels Xbox 360 sales to #1 in February

This February, Microsoft Xbox 360 sales bested those of the Sony Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii for the first time since September of 2007. The February sales figures were: Xbox 360 422,000 units — up 8% year-over-year, Wii 397,900 units — down 47% year-over-year, and Playstation 3 360,100 units — up 30% year-over-year. Take-Two Interative’s BioShock 2, which hit store shelves on February 10th, can be partially credited for the surge in Xbox sales. BS 2 sold over 750,000 copies, 75% of which (562,000) were for the Xbox 360. Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Wii, sold 555,600 units raking second on the game sales chart and Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 came in a respectable third.

        I’m a little worried about PC games. Epic isn’t doing Gears of War 2 ever on the PC, and I don’t think they’re alone in their reasoning for doing so. The reason, piracy. They can’t justify the expense of porting it over with how much Gears 1 got hijacked…

      I am okay with putting up with PSN’s lag and bugs, since it’s free.

      Xbox Live charges you for their lag and bugs.

    PS3 and 360 both have good and bad. Xbox has the ps3 for multiplayer, that’s it. I have 2 xboxes and 1 ps3 AND a PSP so i’m not just talking out my ass. anyone who says “This sucks, that sucks” just sucks. They are just like the Iphone fanboys who say “my phone is better than yours” but can’t explain why. :)

    Say what you will about the 360 having somewhat less power than the 360, you can’t deny that it has some incredibly enjoyable games out for it.

    Bioshock, Mass Effect, MW2, etc. There is just *so* much awesome entertainment to be had on that platform.

    Perhaps part of it stems from the fact that Microsoft has used their leverage to make to make programmer’s lives easier with well documented API’s, and a damn good IDE.
