Blackra1n RC 2 released for your jailbreaking pleasure

Our favorite iPhone outlaw, geohot, has released an update to the iPhone jailbreak software blackra1n. Dubbed RC2 the update addresses several issues including:

  • Fixes 3G signal issues
  • Tethered jailbreak for 3.1 OOTB iPod touch 8GB and new 3GS’
  • Fixes issues with package software”Icy“
  • Versions for both Windows and Mac now available

No need to rerun blackra1n if you already applied RC1 successfully, but for those of you who have not been able to crack into your iPiece take RC2 for a spin. Let us know how it goes!

    No it only jailbreaks. It does not look good for unlocking 3.1.x so far

    I was able to JB in a few seconds but my phone is not activated. And I only have a T-Mo sim card. What do i do now?

      Odds are, you are very, very screwed and either have an expensive iPod Touch on your hands or you need to get an AT&T contract. Unless you used the Pwnange tools to make a custom firmware file that preserved a hackable baseband file. The warnings about losing your carrier unlock when upgrading to 3.2 are everywhere!

        the RC1 did not JB the phone which is a 16gb iPhone 3G. But the RC2 did in a matter of seconds. Everything has been done by the book. I attempted to use a ATT sime BEFORE RC2 of blackra1n came out and again neither the ATT Sim nor the T-Mo sim would work in the phone.

    Rc1 didn’t work but the new one had me jailbroken in 20 seconds. 16 gig 3G.

    Shoulda done this awhile ago.

    Ok, I see this says it works for 3.1 but will it work for 3.1.2?

    I already have rc1. Do I need to run rc2 for the fix? If so, what do I need to do?

    I just used it for my 3Gs and it jailbroke the phone on 3.1.2 in a little under 60 seconds! I couldn’t believe my eyes so I grabbed my friends 3Gs and did the same thing, under a minute!!! I jailbroke four phones in 5 minutes!!!!

    Works perfect!!!!

    Did rc1 jailbreak your phone? If yea then you don’t need rc2.

    If it didn’t work the just download rc2 and do it.

    Ok, I was able to jailbreak it…SUPER FAST AND EASY! Wow, I couldn’t believe how fast it was. I can’t figure out how to tether it though. Please help!

    I went to Redmond Pie and tried to figure it out, but it looks like without buying MyWi, I’m not able to get the tethering option by using Windows. Help?

    It did not work for me. It still says the sim card is locked. I’ve been trying this for hours and I am so close to throwing this iPhone away. :/
