Skyfire pulls BlackBerry Alpha

We just got a heads up that because one of the alpha builds for Skyfire for BlackBerry was leaked earlier, Skyfire is taking the servers offline for the next couple weeks. Our guess is that they’re going to implement some sort of security protocol for alpha testers going forward, and you can chalk this up to leaked software ruining the world forever. Here’s the text:

“Today our alpha application was leaked. We are temporarily halting our Alpha program. As you know, we were working with a small group of you under NDA and our intent was not to open the program beyond that small number right now.

We appreciate your feedback on Alpha3, and in the next few weeks we’ll be sending you a new build to test. In the meantime, the servers will be down and you will not be able to use the application.”

    Skyfire told me that the Alpha is open only for a small group of 50 users.

    But it is a shame. This will slow up the testing process and even push back the release even further. Skyfire rocked on WM, I was looking forward to getting this for my Bold.

    Stop your bitchin’ you panzies! Each and every 1 of you have probably used a leak BB OS or app. If you weren’t 1 of the beta testers it doesn’t affect you anyway. For those that were/are beta testers they’ll be getting a new link in short order.

    Skyfire servers have to be down because more then 50 people have a leaked browser now?

    People..think about it..Clearly the browser and servers are CRAP if they limit it to so few people and worry 51 people might crash it all down.

    It was way more than 50 people. Also the servers were only meant for a small alpha test, then they would expand it when it was released.

    Not that I used SkyFire all the time, but it was a nice alternative when I needed to switch on the fly from my blackberry browser…ass.

    We can blame that dickhead Bla1ze over on Crackberry. He went crying to Skyfire about the leak cause someone posted it. I am really starting to hate some of the mod’s over there, they act like they’re gods when in reality most havent left their moms basement in some time. They also dont allow anyone to speak their mind, if you try to put the word “idiot” into a post it gets moderated. I guess some Canadians dont believe in free speach.
