iTunes 8.2.1 kills Palm Pre syncing

Software

Well Pre fans, at least you knew it was coming. Word is trickling out that Apple has made good on its ‘threat’ and with the release of iTunes 8.2.1, so goes the Pre’s ability to sync. Palm said in its statement that users should consider holding off on upgrading and if you’re a big fan of out-of-the-box iTunes syncing that’s probably a good idea. The question now is whether or not Palm will end up in a cat and mouse game with Apple (finding a way around Apple’s fix, waiting for the new exploit to be plugged, etc) that plenty of devs are familiar with. Don’t take it too hard though, Palm fans, as there are definitely other options when it comes to getting your iTunes library synced up with your Pre.

    @Error404,

    A possible threat? That I don’t believe. They sold maybe 200,000 Pre’s. iPhone 3G S sold a million it’s first weekend. Plus the app store just keeps getting bigger and bigger while the Pre will be stuck at 30 apps until this fall. I think apple has nothing to worry about.

    @Jim Philips,

    I’ve had nothing but good customer support with Apple… However if you’d pay attention to news you’d realize that iTunes music is now DRM free, check your facts before you try to use that as a “disadvantage” of apple there bud

    @t3ch man,

    Even of Palm came out with it’s own software, it would be a joke compared to the empire Apple created and what Amazon has going for them…
