iPhone / iPod touch activation servers bite it

Software

Ruh roh, Shaggy. According to an unending stream of tips flowing into our inbox, iPhone / iPod touch activation servers just bit it, big time. Apparently Apple and AT&T underestimated the wave of Apple handset users dying for OS 3.0 and the swarm was just too much to handle. If you’re trying to reactivate your phone post 3.0 update, sit tight and things should be back online soon. Oh, the agony.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

I think steve jobs should go fuck himself for releasing this p.o.s line of phones. And how could someone call these smartphones. I think if you have an iphone you probably should wear a helmet and take the little bus everywhere you go.

Blackberry is a real smartphone I don’t care if apples been selling more it just means people are getting stupider day by day

@ jonathan h: Learn to write a grammatically correct sentence and maybe someone will pay attention to your nonsensical comments.

What a shock that APPLE once AGAIN FAILS it users. I wonder is it their Xserve servers that fail or Apples complete stupidity to manage the load correctly?

How does this problem have anything to do with at&t? Are they responsible for the update downloads. It seems like taking a swipe at at&t is all anyone wants to do. They have been great for me, better than my past carrier experiences.

i just kept re-connecting. It took all of 3 tries. No problem.

Stop with all your pissing & moaning. I remember when you had to write to the airlines for tickets – then wait a couple of weeks to receive them. Slow down and live a little.

Apple can’t update a few million devices? They should fire their CTO. Microsoft can update hundreds of millions of PC’s every month.

Apple gets a big FAIL as usual.

And why do people think ATT can’t handle MMS traffic from iPhone users when there are millions more “regular” phones that use MMS every day?

All you have to do is pop out your sim card and then do the update. It will activate every time!
