The game needs a mobile device to play, running either iOS or Android. The Pokemon Go app is available as a free download for iPhone (at this link) and for Android (at this link). There are in-app purchases available, but you can play the game for free forever.
After you’ve downloaded the appropriate Pokemon Go app for your device, you’ll have to sign in, and you can do so with your Google account, which is very convenient. Make sure you give the app permissions to access location and camera, as that’s the only way the game will work. Pokemon Go needs to know where you are and needs access to the camera for it to work.
That’s pretty much everything you need to go about this highly addictive mobile game. Go play it, but try doing it responsively if you can. If you’re looking for Pokemon Go tips, we’ve got them for you.
