Thanks to Apple’s decision to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack, the iPhone 7 is without question the most water-resistant iPhone ever released. Armed with an impressive IP67 rating, Apple’s latest and greatest iPhone is designed to withstand submersion in up to a meter of water for as long 30 minutes.
DON’T MISS: There’s a hidden iPhone 7 feature that shows us what it’ll be like to use the iPhone 8
Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen the iPhone 7 survive big wave surfing and, even more impressive, outlast and outclass the Samsung Galaxy S7 in an extreme waterproofing battle. Recently,we highlighted a Reddit thread devoted to iPhone 7 owners boasting about how their devices came into contact with water and survived.
Pushing the envelope even further, Gizmodo reports on a seemingly ridiculous yet not altogether surprising new trend among iPhone 7 owners: using the device in the shower and boasting about it on social media.
Is using the iPhone 7 in the shower a new status symbol as Gizmodo suggests? We wouldn’t go that far, but it certainly is a way to use up your humble-brag quota rather quickly. Still, we can’t really complain. Some folks like to drink in the shower, and others, so it would seem, prefer to check Facebook and post to Twitter.
Going the extra mile, Gizmodo even directs us to a few choice tweets from the iPhone 7 shower soldiers among us.
Best new iPhone 7 features are definitely the camera and the awesome water resistance.

Sure, it’s easy to laugh at this tomfoolery, but Apple itself has made a point to position the iPhone 7’s robust water resistance as a key selling point. A few weeks back, for example, the company released an ad called Morning Ride. The ad centers on a cyclist who decides to go for a ride in the pouring rain, his iPhone confidently affixed to the front of his bike.
