Apple’s massive iPhone 7 event is finally behind us and we’re still catching our breath. What’s crazy is we already knew just about everything Apple was going to unveil during Wednesday’s big press conference, but seeing it all come together is always completely different from trying to piece together bits and pieces from the rumor mill and leaks.
Of course, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus weren’t the only new things to come out of Apple’s big event. Now, the final “Gold Master” version of Apple’s new iOS 10 software has now been released ahead of iOS 10’s public launch next Tuesday, September 13th.

Apple has been running a developer beta and a public beta for iOS 10 all summer long, and the new software has really come together quite nicely. In fact, iOS 10’s betas have been some of Apple’s most stable betas so far right out of the gate.
But now, the beta period is winding down as Apple prepares to release the public version of iOS 10 next week ahead of its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus release. As always, that means one last version of iOS 10 before the main event.
iOS 10 GM, or iOS 10 Gold Master, is identical to the version of iOS 10 that will be released to the public next week (as long as no critical bugs are uncovered before then). It’s meant to give developers one last stretch to get their apps ready for the update. For non-developers, it means you can get your hands on the final version of iOS 10 a week before any of your friends do.
So how can you get your hands on iOS 10 GM right now? It couldn’t be easier — just like every other iOS 10 beta you’ve been installing, iOS 10 GM is available as an over the air (OTA) update. Just go to Settings > General > Software Update on your compatible iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the new software.
