With all the major wireless providers now offering some flavor of “unlimited” service to their customers it’s become common for the companies to cram as many extras into their top-tier subscription offerings as possible. AT&T just scored a huge win in that department with the inclusion of HBO for all of its Unlimited Plus customers, and the best part is that you don’t even need to be an AT&T video service subscriber to get in on the action.
The new plan feature provides the full HBO experience for any unlimited wireless customers who subscribe to AT&T U-verse, DirecTV or DirecTV Now. If you already pay for HBO through AT&T you’ll no longer be charged for it going forward, while anyone who didn’t previously subscribe to the suite of premium channels will now have it available for no extra charge.
If you’re just an AT&T Unlimited Plus subscriber without accompanying video service, you’ll still get full access to HBO content via HBO Go and/or DirecTV Now, without having to sign up for anything extra. HBO Now, which is the standalone HBO app for people who want to pay for it on its own, costs $15 per month, so you’re essentially getting that service for free with AT&T’s new deal.
AT&T says the inclusion of HBO in its Unlimited Plus wireless plan will begin on April 6th, which should give you plenty of time to catch up on past episodes of Game of Thrones in anticipation for this year’s season premiere.
