Sony on Monday unveiled its next flagship Android smartphone, the Xperia Z4 that appeared in a plethora of rumors so far. Unfortunately, the company has only announced the handset for its home market, meaning that Android fans from countries other than Japan won’t be able to really purchase it yet. However, Sony has planned a flagship announcement for international markets for late May, according to Russian publication

Meanwhile, Japanese customers will be able to purchase a brand new high-end Android smartphone from Sony in the near future, a device that should be even lighter (144g) and slimmer than predecessors (146 x 72 x 6.9 mm).

The phone is still water and dust resistant (IP68 certification) and offers a design that’s overall in line with what other Xperia Z flagship models had to offer.

The Xperia Z4 packs a 5.2-inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, 64-bit eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, microSD support, 20.7-megapixel camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 2,930 mAh battery and Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Pricing details for the Xperia Z4 aren’t available at this time, but the phone should hit stores this summer, at least in Japan. It’s not clear what high-end handset Sony will bring to international markets and whether it’ll be a variation of the Xperia Z4 or a brand new device.
