Awesome IFTTT automation application finally launches on Android

IFTTT for Android Official Download

It appears the IFTTT for Android beta tests are over and the company is ready to officially offer its activity automation service to Android users. IFTTT on Thursday released its Android app, which is available as a free download from the Google Play Store and will work with smartphones and tablets of all sizes as long as they’re running Android 4.0 or later.

IFTTT will now offer users six Android-related channels they’ll be able to use in various recipes in order to automate certain actions. These channels include Android Device, Android Location, Android Notification, Android Phone Call, Android Photos and Android SMS. More Android Channels will be made available in future updates.

With IFTTT for Android, users will be able to automatically back up photos, set up automatic text messages and calls depending on certain parameters such as location or sender, or receive certain notifications on their devices based on certain events. On its blog, the company listed several examples of what can be done with IFTTT on Android:

  • Set your device’s wallpaper to match your latest Instagram photo
  • Mute your ringtone when you connect to specific WiFi networks (like work)
  • Text my roommate when I leave work
  • Create Google Calendar reminders when you miss a phone call

In order to use IFTTT on Android, users will need to set up an account with the company, download the application from the Play Store, activate channels and set up their IFTTT recipes, or get them from the web.
