Samsung will launch a slew of new wearable devices alongside its Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone next week, including two smartwatches, the Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo, and the Gear Fit fitness tracker. Now, Amazon has made all three of these new devices available for preorder. The three wrist-worn devices are set to ship on April 11th from Amazon, which is when the Galaxy S5 will be launched in many markets as well. The Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are priced at $299 and $199, respectively, and the Gear Fit sells for $199.
In addition to Amazon, some of the U.S. carriers that will sell the Galaxy S5 will also have the three new wearables in stock, so buyers interested in purchasing both the handset and a new wearable device should check out those offers before they buy, as some carriers may have special promotions in place for Samsung product bundles – check out AT&T’s, T-Mobile’s, Sprint’s, U.S. Cellular’s and Verizon’s new Galaxy S5 and Gear deals.
After the Galaxy Gear turned out to be largely a flop, Samsung quickly revamped the design of the device and replaced Android with Tizen and a custom OS to make the new smartwatches and fitness band more appealing to potential customers, as the company appears interested to have a more competitive set or wearable devices in stores before the iWatch arrives.
