More leaked Galaxy S5 details point to killer camera

Galaxy S5 Specs

Samsung fans got some potentially awful news on Monday morning as a new report suggested next year’s flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone might be built out of plastic and pleather instead of metal, as had been rumored several times in the past. That would indeed be a huge disappointment, though the report also reaffirmed earlier rumors suggesting Samsung has a separate “Galaxy F” line in the works that will be made out of more premium materials. Those disappointed that the Galaxy S5 might not be as sleek as we had hoped might find at least some comfort in learning that according to a new report, Samsung’s next-generation flagship phone will feature a brand new camera that improves upon the already impressive camera on Samsung’s current Galaxy S4.

South Korean news site ET News on Monday reported that Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy S5 will feature a new 16-megapixel camera, which would be a nice bump from the 13-megapixel camera in the current-generation Galaxy S4. The report notes that Samsung’s component arm is working on its own 16-megapixel sensor for the upcoming hero phone, however it may be forced to instead source sensors from Sony in the event that it cannot produce enough units in time for the S5’s 1H 2014 launch.

Another recent report suggested that Samsung’s Galaxy S5 will be powered by a new 64-bit eight-core Exynos 6 processor, and that it may be unveiled as soon as January of next year.
