Although a public announcement has yet to be made, Sony sent out invitations for its E3 2016 press conference on Monday, confirming that the venue would be switching from the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena to the Shrine Auditorium.
DON’T MISS: Distributor slips and says the PS4 Neo will launch before October
As has been the case for the past several years, Sony’s press conference will once again kick off at 6:00PM PT on Monday, June 13th — the last conference before the show begins in earnest on Tuesday. Nintendo has elected to skip a press conference altogether, instead opting to stream the new Legend of Zelda all day on Tuesday.
The invitation didn’t offer up any information about what Sony might have in store for the show, but with so many of the big PlayStation 4 games revealed last year still in development, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see a few repeat performances. Final Fantasy VII Remake, The Last Guardian and Horizon Zero Dawn all still lack release date, but we’re sure to learn more at E3 in June.
PlayStation VR should also make a splash at E3 2016, especially with its launch just a few months out. The Oculus Rift and HTC Vive may have it beat from a technical standpoint, but Sony has the right price point, the built-in user base and, most importantly, the best games to attract early adopters of VR.
Finally, there’s a good chance that Sony will announce the rumored PS4 Neo, capable of running games in 4K resolution, at this year’s event. We’ll find out for sure when the press conference begins at 6:00PM PT on Monday, June 13th.
