This is more or less what Android Nougat, the latest and greatest version of Android, is going to look like. Google released Developer Preview 5 earlier today, the final beta version of the software before the expected launch later this summer.
The latest version of the preview doesn’t bring too much by way of new features, but there are a handful of bug fixes, and also a cool Easter Egg for bored beta testers to play with.

9to5Google is collating all the new features in the latest preview, and so far the only major finding is the new Easter Egg. According to their post, “on the Easter Egg screen, tapping the ‘N’ will cycle through a series of emoji. Additionally, the ‘N’ drops the purple-blue colors for a more faded beige that matches the color of nougat bars.”
There’s also some new bug fixes, most notably a fix for a bug in the Quick Settings menu.
We don’t yet have an official release date for Android Nougat to the general public. But Google previously said it would be out in Q3 2016, so the smart money is on sometime in August or September. That gives Google at least a month to analyze data from the final preview and make changes, then roll out the latest version of Android to Nexus device owners.
Of course, owners of non-Nexus devices are going to be waiting a little longer. Handsets from big-name manufacturers all run slightly tweaked versions of Android, and it typically takes a month or two for Samsung and co to update their software for the latest versions of Google’s OS.
