There’s no question that both Lyft and Uber completely changed the way we travel. Not only have both services made travel much cheaper, they’ve also made it much more efficient of a process.
Now on the surface, one might think that Lyft and Uber are practically the same, effectively the tech version of Coke and Pepsi. And while pricing between the two competing services is often similar, there are certainly times when one offers a much cheaper ride than the other. There may be instances, for example, when Uber is subject to surge pricing and Lyft is not, and vice versa.

While one can easily fire up both apps and continuously check which one offers the lowest rate, there’s a website that will gladly do all the heavy lifting for you. The site is called Fare Estimate.com, and much as the name implies, it will give you accurate pricing for both Lyft and Uber. With that information in tow, users can select which option is cheapest and fire up the corresponding app.
All users need to do is to enter in their starting address and destination and the site will provide you with price and travel estimates for UberX, UberPool, UberXL, Lyft, Lyft Line and Lyft Plus.
I gave the site a few test runs and it seems to be quite accurate. The only glitch is that the site was curiously unable to deliver UberPool estimates.
