Suicide Squad is one of this year’s most highly anticipated superhero movies. Given the massive success of Marvel’s Deadpool, however, it sounds like the team behind the new DC Comics film is looking to significantly up its game. That is great news for fans everywhere.

The best thing about Deadpool is its humor. The Merc with a Mouth does indeed have a mouth on him and his foul-mouthed quips made Deadpool the funniest and raunchiest comic book movie ever.

Apparently, the folks over at Warner Bros. wanted some of that humor and asked Suicide Squad director David Ayer to reshoot some of the scenes to add “more humor and lightness” into his characters. It’s not clear whether Deadpool’s immense success at the box office is to blame, though. Birth Movies Death reports the reshoots are “big, tens of millions of dollars big,” as the studio is looking for more “fun character moments and interactions,” rather than just adding jokes here and there.

The site says it learned from a source that the most recent Suicide Squad trailer did not accurately depict the film as it exists right now.

“Every joke in the movie is in that trailer,” this source told the site. And the enormously positive response the trailer got is what convinced Warner Bros. to ask for reshoots.

Suicide Squad is set to come out in August, meaning there’s plenty of time left to get the job done.
