Samsung has never been shy about releasing several different variations of the same product at once, so a new leak that hints the company will launch four different versions of the Galaxy S7 in early 2016 shouldn’t surprise us. @evleaks has posted what appears to be a leaked list of upcoming Samsung smartphones and it features four different devices: The Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7 Edge Plus and Galaxy S7 Plus.
While we’ve long suspected that Samsung would release both a Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge at the same time next year, recent evidence has come up to suggest larger versions of both devices will be released at the same time as well.
On Thursday, Steve Hemmerstoffer of nowhereelse.fr gave website uSwitch a video that featured some detailed blueprints for what appears to be a larger version of the Galaxy S7 that will be purportedly be called the Galaxy S7 Plus. According to leaked blueprints, the regular Galaxy S7 will measure in at 143.37 x 70.8 x 6.94 millimeters while the S7 Plus will measure in at 163.4 x 82 x 7.82 millimeters.
One question is how Samsung plans to differentiate the Galaxy S7 Plus devices from its popular Galaxy Note devices that were pioneers in creating a market for giant smartphones. Then again, we have to remember that this is the same company that released more than a dozen different versions of the Galaxy S4, so it’s never been overly worried about confusing people with its branding strategy.
