We can forgive sci-fi movies from the ’50s and ’60s for having terrible special effects. That said, once your get to the ’80s and ’90s, there’s no reason that your movie shouldn’t at least look passably realistic. Sadly, however, that has not universally been the case as even to this day we still see some true CGI stinkers that leave us howling in the aisles.

A new video posted by worldwideinterweb takes us through some of the worst special effects in recent movie history and sadly not all of them are small-budget B movies. You’ll see the notoriously fake shark model terrorizing Sea World in Jaws 3, a spectacularly poor plane crash sequence in Air Force One, and a ridiculous sequence in King Kong that involves body checking a dinosaur, NHL-style. Oh, Peter Jackson, we thought you were better than that.
