Get ready for the iPad 3: Apple sends invites to March 7th iPad unveiling in San Francisco

Breaking

Apple on Tuesday circulated invitations to a press conference on March 7th where the Cupertino-based technology giant will unveil its next-generation iPad tablet. The event will be held in San Francisco rather than in New York, as had been reported earlier on Tuesday. Apple’s iPad 3 is expected to feature a high-definition 2,048 x 1,536-pixel Retina Display, a new quad-core Apple A6 processor, a larger battery, embedded 4G LTE connectivity, an 8-megapixel camera and an exterior design that is very similar to the current iPad 2 but with a slightly modified case. New features tied to the next major build of Apple’s mobile platform are expected to be on display next week as well, and we took a quick hands-on look at iOS 5.1 earlier this month. Tune in to BGR on March 7th for all the news surrounding Apple’s iPad 3 unveiling as it breaks.

Nice. Will probably pickup 15-20 of them to flip during the first few weeks. Easy profit if you have the disposable cash for the initial investment.

Why is this news when Samsung already confirmed they have a processor that’s faster than apple a6 processor honestly this is a catch up device with the same old static icons with no dramatic new browser benchmarks or new features.

Can’t really recall hi def retina displays or quad core processors being packed into tablets a year ago. Also, by your logic, no company should ever refresh a product line since most “new ideas” have been previously implemented.

i highly doubt it since the iPad doesn’t follow the iPhone’s naming sequence. Remember the iPhone 2 was called iPhone 3G, since the iPad is in a standard numbering system this would have to be called the iPad 3 the change from regular to retina accounts for the number bump. Just as the next iPhone won’t be called the iPhone 5 since
    iPhone 1 = iPhone
    iPhone 2 = iPhone 3G
    iPhone 3 = iPhone 3GS
    iPhone 4 = iPhone 4
    iPhone 5 = iPhone 4S

Iphone 2 was named 3g to reflect it’s 3g connectivity, which at the time was a big marketing tool. Much like companies continually add 4g to the end of handsets now.

I pretty much expected the 4S to come out!!! Just my going from Apples Past iphone releases!!! The iPad hasn’t been out long enough to make a good guess, but I think the iPad2 was a Minor Update to the Original iPad, So Apple could have called the 2 a 1S instead. I think #3 is due for a Major overhaul. Samsung has already said they plan to come out with a High Rez screen on their Tablet in a few months. When you basically have 4 times the pixels on screen you need a much more powerful CPU/GPU to push all those pixel around just to keep the same speed as a ipad2, but people will still want it even faster!!! So that means a pretty major CPU/GPU update. Which is where the Quad-Core is coming from. 4G is getting out there also much better then a year ago, with all the Android tablets coming out with 4G, I don’t see Apple waiting any longer on that.

So all we can do is make a educated guess with what Apple plans to do. Many of the other Android Company’s announce their products months before it ever comes out. It can be 6 months to a year before it finally comes out, if at all, and if it’s still the same as was talked about so long ago.

I’ve held out from buying a ipad 1 or 2, if I have to, I’ll hold out another year if the ipad 3 isn’t what I expect it to be. If Apple waits that long, they’ll be past up by everyone else. IF it has all this, how will Apple top it on the ipad 4???

The iphone 4S wasn’t a disappointment. It was a pretty good update. Especially for new iphone users and those with the older 3GS that were ready to update. If you had a 4 like I did, there wasn’t a huge need to get a 4S. There’s no need to upgrade every year.
