FBI raids ‘Anonymous’ hackers in New York

Security

The FBI raided the homes of three hackers from the infamous hacking group ‘Anonymous’ in New York, Fox News reported on Tuesday. Reportedly, more than 10 FBI agents stormed the house of Giordani Jordan in Baldwin New York and took “at least one laptop from the premises.” Jordan is suspected to have been behind denial of service (DoS) attacks against a number of firms, including Mastercard and Visa. In addition, agents are also searching homes in Long Island and Brooklyn. The hackers are said to be in their late teens and early 20s. It’s unclear if the hackers were also part of the group LulzSec, which claimed responsibility for hacks against Sony, the U.S. Senate and the CIA.

Crazy.  How did the FBI find them?  Oh yeah, Patriot Act allows big bruh to spy on everyone :)

    • Joe

And good thing it does allow for that, obviously its very useful.

There’s a line between legitimate dissent and criminal activity. Ultimately, this is where it was always bound to end up and there will be more.

They are NOT doing legitimate dissent – they are breaking the law.

I think it’s funny that you are all screaming for blood… Sure, this will buy the feds some good press and reassure the public. But do you honestly think these guys are going to be punished? Please… The gov is going to beg them to jump ship and work for them…

    • IPwn

Actually that is a fairy tale you see in movies. This may of happened in the early 90s but now a days the NSA and CIA are requiring kids out of high schools that excel in computer programs. Then they give them a 4 year internship where they pay for college and work for them in the summer. Plus these guys attacks aren’t as sophisticated as people make them out to be.

      • Nofan

sophisticated enough to the breach security of the CIA and US Senate….I think that qualifies.

      • Mk Az

Defacing a forward facing website and “breaching security” aren’t exactly the same thing.

      • sirpaul

You mean participating in a DoS attack? Give me a break…anyone with a computer and basic computer knowledge can do that.

  • Anonymous

They are just raiding the homes of everyone who has purchased one of those masks.

I looked for one on ebay and quickly closed my browser in fear of big brother.

  • Nope

these hacker types should have their hd’s rigged with a pressurized acid or something so if the anyone kicks in the door the acid is injected onto the platters and now there is less evidence.

    • sirpaul

Acid is a liquid and can’t really be pressurized unless it is kept at above boiling point.

They have nothing. There are a lot more then they think.

All that trouble just because they wanted custom Wallpapers to change the theme on their Hommo screens.

The FBI should recruit these guys.

  • Anonymous

fck all you hacker haters… if werent for them… companies will have the passwords of your douche bags stored in a plain text file for some ass hole to come and steal…

they are helping the cause… we need more security and this is getting it down… you stupid donkeys..

    • Anonymous

nice logic. It’s like saying.. if it wasn’t for thieves and murderers.. we’d all be simply shutting our doors instead of locking them. So somehow thieves and murders are “useful” to the society. ???

    • http://twitter.com/cdoruff Collin Doruff

Debatable, they aren’t helping anyone by trying to wreak havoc. They aren’t doing it to say “Excuse me, company name here, you should look into updating your security.” Its more of a “haha screw you unfortunate company name here”

There is a big difference between white hat and black hat, yes.  Unfortunately businesses don’t really spend money on security unless they have a real risk.  Blatant inaction has been shown time and time again.

Saying “excuse me Microsoft, you have a security problem… please fix it” will get you no action unless you include “this vulnerability will become public on mm/dd/yyyy”.

Very well said, unfortunate it goes the way it does for security.

    • sirpaul

You are one of the biggest retards I have ever met on the internet. Your logic is incredibly flawed. As @frankandsimple:disqus mentioned, doing something illegal for the sake of ‘improving’ protection against said illegal act doesn’t make sense simply because the criminals (ie Anonymous) are what people are trying to protect themselves from. It’s an endless circle.

    • Anonymous

Listen… all i am saying is this is causing a stir to beef up security. I know a few people will be hurt and all but at the end the majority will be saved.

I wonder how many apple fan boys switched from “sue google and HTC for infringing on apple patents” in the other article … to….. “hackers are free souls and shouldn’t be punished”.. in this topic.
It’s not depressing anymore.. it’s simply amusing.

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, LiveCent.com

  • NO

It looks like plenty of you like taking it anally from corporate and the government. I am rooting for these hackers. FIGHT THE POWER!!

    About time!

    Good. Douche Bags….

I don’tthink the Feds are going to mess around, the hacking has gotten out of hand; they are out to make an example. Afterall, the Feds reputation is on the line.

its really troubling to me that people are so glad they were captured when they target companies that do nothing but hurt us and aid organizations that help us. blind patriotism is terrorism, remember that folks.
