Apple will ship 66M iPhones, 30M iPads, 17M Macs in 2011 according to analyst

Computers

Needham & Company analyst Charlie Wolf on Tuesday raised his estimates for iPad shipments in the fiscal third quarter and full year. Wolf now believes increased demand will boost third-quarter shipments from 7.5 million to 9 million units, and he thinks Apple will ship a whopping 30 million iPad 2 tablets in fiscal 2011. “While competitors have rushed to launch competing tablets, they have made an imperceptible dent in the trajectory of iPad sales,” the analyst wrote in his note. “They have been unable to undercut the price of the iPad; and they’re fallen woefully short in matching its features, ease-of-use and the number of applications written for the device. Indeed, the only risk in our forecast is on the supply side, not the demand side.” Wolf also bumped his fiscal third-quarter Mac shipment projection from 3.75 million units to 4.25 million and 17 million units for the full year. Finally, he reduced his fiscal fourth-quarter iPhone estimates from 17.5 million units to 16 million, stating that Apple is likely to slow iPhone 4 shipments ahead of the iPhone 5′s launch in September. For the full year, Wolf sees iPhone shipments totaling 66 million units.

+1….. I guess 500,000 and more android devices, 98% of them being phones are being activated everyday isn’t real news. Because its fact. Not stupid apple fiction. So iBGR i have just one question, when does your contract end with S. Jobs?

      • Majipoor

How much money in Google’s wallet for those 500k Android devices a day? Because, you know, for a company, whether it is Google or Apple, money is all that really matters.

BGR, do you even read your site’s own comments? Stop with the analyst stuff! It’s all just liquor and guessing!

  • Bgr

My grandma will ship 5 bday cards this year… Oh yeah, according to analyst… Who cares?!

  • http://www.droiddoes.com/ iNorm

I didn’t even read any of the article. There may be facts and stats, all that matters is DROID is free and open and that crApple sucks big time.

Q1 and Q2 saw Apple ship just shy of 35 million iPhones. I think 66 million for the year is a low estimate but this particular analyst usually goes low on Apple numbers.

To the A-holes who don’t like certain stories:

Don’t read the stories. I realize that is difficult to understand but I have faith that “You can Do it”.

All I know is he’s been right on Apple and right to avoid RIM

  • The Analyst

“Apple is likely to slow iPhone 4 shipments ahead of the iPhone 5′s launch in September” So Apple is making the iphone 5 now? The analyst said it, it must be true!

    • http://twitter.com/TuckerPeterson Tucker A. Peterson

BGR just posted an article yesterday with another analyst saying no iPhone 5 in Sept. and maybe just iPhone 4S.

More analyst drivel.  BGR, we know you love Apple and all, but these constant articles about each time an analyst farts and has an epiphany get really boring.

  • Max

How many will RIMjob ship? How many Playbooks? LOL.

    • Applesucksfatties

How many RIMjobs will you and your iNerd buddies give to iEpstein and iGeller for their riveting reporting on crApple?

My “analysis” of BGR’s typical posts:

Analyst says Apple is the best.

Analyst says iPad is the best.

Analyst says iPhone is the best.

    200 word review of smartphone.

    Awesome scoop.

Analyst says, no seriously, Apple is the best.

    I miss when BGR wasn’t Apple sponsored…

I don’t get why articles that summaries an analysts report results in some many negative and utterly irrelevant posts.
Obviously investors take the predictions of analysts with a grain of salt. No one suggests their gospel. But when you’re trying to make a decision to whether to buy/sell/hold stock part of your decision making process is whether you think a company will makes its numbers, and the views of analyses contributes to your overall  assessment.

The facts show apple has had huge sales growth in the past few years, so I don’t see why some guys numbers would result in a whole lot of largely irrelevant posts.

Sure as part of the equation you look at how competitors are doing, and sure the fact that collectively 500,000 android devices are shipping factors into the overall size and movement of the mobile space.

But I don’t see why readers are pissed just because an analyst projects X units will be sold and that BGR reports on this.

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, LiveCent. com
