T-Mobile: LG G2x getting Gingerbread 'soon'

Software

If you read our review of T-Mobile’s G2x, you know we’re fans of the dual-core handset. There is, however, something a little disheartening about buying a top-of-the-line smartphone running a slightly dated operating system β€” the G2x is currently running Froyo, Android 2.2. But all that is about to change, according to a tweet by T-Mobile. Via its official Twitter account, the company quipped that Gingerbread (Android 2.3) is “coming soon” to the Tegra 2 device, and that current owners “won’t have to wait long.” Great news for those that currently own, or are thinking about owning, LG’s latest creation.

I’d rather wait for CyanogenMod 7, which should be coming out soon.

tmobile just probably wants to add more bloatware to the phone on the upgrade to gingerbread because stock android doesnt have any.

Soon for T-Mobile means sometime this year.

If they don’t give a target date they shouldn’t say anything. “Soon” can mean anything.
