White iPhone with new multitasking UI purportedly spotted in Vietnam [video]

mobile

Vietnamese site tinhte.vn has published a video of what it is claiming might be the iPhone 5 — though it is more likely to be a white iPhone 4 with a storage bump — running a test version of iOS that includes a new multitasking UI and a revamped Spotlight search function. The minute-plus clip shows a new application switcher in action, complete with a handful of crashing apps. The video could be a custom UI skin running on a jailbroken iPhone, but this site has a history of solid scoops so we’re more likely to believe that this is a test build of iOS that is indeed running on a white iPhone 4. The video is after the break — have a look and let us know what you think.

UPDATE: According to another video from tinhte.vn, this iPhone is running test build 8A216 of iOS 4.

Did anyone else notice the compass is here? It isn’t on the iPhone 4.

Having to press the home button to multitask is just crazy and dumb. I really hope this is not what Apple has stored for this summer. I believe iOS is the best mobile platform but it is getting kind of boring. The new 4.3.2 also came with a bunch of bugs, wonder how did that happen, when the previous version was perfectly stable.

Lol this is a test build of ios4!! Look at the voice memo icon, it’s old. Also on another video you can see 4.0 as the version number.

Apple must be loving this, some of the tech blogs just eat anything up!!

so people can copy apple and get sued (HTC) but apple can copy them?

So, when is HP going to be suing Apple for blatant patent violations with its obvious rip off of the Palm OS. Maybe HTC should join in the fun as well. Looks a lot like leap view.

You don’t understand the hypocrisy of Apple and its fans. This feature was debuted in OS X on a non-mobile platform yet somehow there’s no infringement because of the loose connection. The rules don’t apply in Cupertino. In reality, IP concepts are very specific and can’t just be freely extended to anything and everything. However, if you grease the skids enough in the patent office, you can get away with anything.

II feel sorry for you guys if this is all you get. Parked apps? No proof that the app is actually running.

Breaking News: 5 years later Apple catches up with the rest of the world and brings you multitasking.

Up Next: Apple to sue everyone for copying multitasking. “We patented this back in ’43, it’s just a timing thing now”

WOW! Blows my mind – this changes EVERYTHING, again!! Except for the look of the iPhone, the look of iOS, functionality, basic features, notifications, signal reception, and customization.

This uses the concept of Expose, a cool feature founded in OSX. Apple may decide to bring it to iOS. It’s about time considering OSX has had this for almost ten years. Of course we see similar variations used by other vendors such as Android, HTC Sense, HP/Palm’s WebOS etc. But if you’re a Mac guy you know where the idea came from.

White iPhone is like White Knight – only in fairy tales. Besides, who cares?
