Samsung considers Galaxy Tab 10.1 overhaul following iPad 2 unveiling

Following the unveiling of Apple’s second-generation iPad tablet earlier this week, competitors are left scrambling to react. The iPad 2 wasn’t perfect, of course, but it still sets the standard for tablets in 2011 and it will still outsell the competition 10 to one. Apple had its eye on hardware with its iPad 2 update, and the sleek, slender result was so impressive that it seemingly left Samsung scrambling to overhaul its upcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1 slate. The company is already rethinking some of the tablet’s hardware components, Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reports, in consideration of the iPad 2′s 8.8-millimeter aluminum body. “We will have to improve the parts that are inadequate,” Lee Don-joo, EVP of Samsung’s mobile business, told Yonhap. “Apple made it very thin.” Samsung is also considering a lower price point when it releases the Tab 10.1 later this year, according to Lee. “The 10-inch [Galaxy Tab] was to be priced higher than the 7-inch [Galaxy Tab] but we will have to think that over.”

    They wanted to charge more for the Tab 10.1 than the Tab 7? Forget it, the Tab 7 was already overpriced.

    And yes, that is in comparison to the iPad (now iPad 2). Love them or hate them, Apple’s driving the prices. Why would I pay $1000 for a Samsung Tab 10.1 when I can get an iPad 2 for $500? Even though I despise iTunes, I don’t despise it $500 worth. Xoom at $539 now, that’s tempting. So bring it in line, Samsung.

    Haha I love when people bring up that ios don’t have flash. You see it’s that it can’t do it. It’s because apple don’t want garbage on there stuff. The reason it’s garbage is because of adobe not apple. It’s called adobe flash not apple flash. Tell adobe to get the shyt together then you may see flash. Then again it doesn’t matter now because almost ever website video and all can be seen on ios devices.

      must be a photo shopped pic from ios because it looks like a red mist and not a pool of blood. oh and can you finish typing the words you were trying to finish. you were sounding kind of smart until you forgot how to spell. or was that the auto correct feature of the ios program that is always messing up?
