HP taunts webOS faithful with brief video one week before media event

mobile

This is cold HP, so very cold. One week ahead of its scheduled February 9th media event, the company has posted a brief, 9 second video to taunt the webOS faithful. What we see lurking in the shadows of said video looks to be a very well rounded (insert rimshot) piece of hardware. What does Palm have in store of us? A new smartphone? A new tablet? Both? Your friends at BGR will be in sunny San Francisco next week to bring you the news as it happens. Meanwhile, the video is waiting for you after the break.

Man, this next week is going to go by so slow. I hope it’s a Sprint Exclusive.

For Palms sake, I hope it’s not a Sprint exclusive. They just about killed them when they had the exclusive on the Pre.

its not so much that sprint killed them, they had the best advertising campaign for the phone, os, etc… what killed any hope at success was poor hardware that almost EVERYONE had a problem with…

scott, the only reason the pre didnt do good on sprint is pre’s form factor. no on screen keyboard, a tiny slider keyboard wich was almost impossible to type on if you have large hands, no voice dial and the lack of horse power. that phone was too weak for webos. dont get me wrong, i owned the phone & loved the multitasking but the phone itself was to weak for the os. besides, the pre didnt do too good on at&t verizon either. cant wait to see what they have up their sleeves. i hope they have a kick ass phone.

Same here hoping it to be on Sprint.. it would be good if its available on other carriers too.

i hope what ever it is, that it comes with 4g!

I could care less if it is Sprint exclusive, so long as it is on Sprint.

I just wish it were HD, or at the very least, 480p… I’d be salivating even more..

With Android getting away from buttons on their tablets and Apple rumored to do the same I find it amusing that it looks like the buttons are what they are trying to tease people with in this video.

I think this is a phone not a tablet.

You’re probably right; I’ve been so focused on tablets lately I just assumed.

“Think Beyond”. Hmmm…. Where have I heard that before? I can’t put my finger on it, but kudos to Palm/HP for thinking different.

That already looks bulky … whatever it is

      So buy an iPhone. ;)

      • Kld2009

But the iPhone has no buttons. ;)

  • heyhey

after seeing how uninspiring honeycomb is, there is now a real vacuum for hp to fill in with webos. google’s approach to tablets is similar to that to smartphones: let the manufacturers and carriers make loot and screw the gullible geeky consumer who desires specs at the expense of real updates. the good android tablets will come attached to carriers, contracts, and superfluous 3g services…..it would be a big blow to google if hp introduced a wifi only tablet that any consumer can purchase as a replacement or an addition to their laptop….go hp….and may the force be with you
