General

Apple has just released iOS 4.2 beta three, along with iTunes 10.1 beta 2, to developers. The iOS code weighs in at a hefty 620 MB and is waiting at the ready in Apple’s developer web portal. If you install the new bits on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, let us know what you find.

    Ditto on all this Android vs Apple nonsense. I don’t know which device is best but I think Android users should at least give Apple some credit/respect for for their input into the mobile phone – without apple, android wouldn’t exist or work like it does.

    Back on topic, i am running iOS 4.2 beta 3. Things I’ve noticed;

    Airplay nowhere to be seen anywhere?
    New text tones, some of which are either too long and/or too cheesy
    Ability to lock volume of ringer/text tones, so that you don’t turn the volume down while using the buttons.
    More control over gamecenter eg turn off multiplayer mode
    New fonts for notepad
    AirPrint – although I haven’t managed to get it to work yet

    Without airplay it makes you wonder whether it’s worth it. There is only a few additional features. I hope airplay comes back in – I’ve got my apple tv all set up and ready to go and I bought apple tv because of airplay.
