it’s a stupid fad! once and awhile 3-d is ok but not all the time, with everyother movie. STOP!!!! I’ve seen 2 3-d movies this past year,(avatar was one of them), and the 3-d made them horrible. enough with the 3-d all ready bring on the holligrams!

Typically, I totally agree. 3D movies suck, 3D tvs and blu-rays are a waste and only a fool would want that crap in their home over more powerful, 3D-less hardware. Its also a scam to make sh!t-stain movies look like blockbusters since the higher price of 3D tickets makes their revenue inflated. When it comes to hating 3D, I’m right there with you…

…EXCEPT for the Nintendo 3DS. Nothing you and I hate applies here. While the 3D aspect is a gimmick to draw people in, what we truly have here is a next gen handheld, not a crappy rehash of the DS again, with a sh1t ton of new features, etc etc etc. If Nintendo was TRULY trying to ride the 3D bandwagon, they wouldn’t have given the option to turn off the 3D altogether. For the first time in a long time I’m excited about a handheld, and not because of the 3D, but because of the added features.

And before anyone says it… yeah, if you like gaming on an iPhone, more power to you, but I’ve seen and played the games on Iphone and am NOT impressed. They would be great time wasters, but nothing I’d want to play for more than 5 minutes. Its like trying to say Uno is just as good as Blackjack because they’re both card games. NEGATIVE.

You’re missing the point. Its not gimmicky 3D. This is the next generation of handhelds.

Its visual output is akin to 360/PS3 on a 4″ screen.
Its 3D features are just as good as the best 3D movies, like Avatar.
Its 3D feature is adjustable in case it bothers you or you just don’t want it.
It can watch movies and tv (probably via download)
It comes with 2GB SDCard and has 1.5GB internal flash built in.
It can take up to 32GB SDCard.
It will have a huge library at launch from rehashes of existing current generation games in 3D as well as a Virtual Console just like Wii for Gameboy and other older handhelds.
It has two cameras for video conferencing (granted lower quality but 3D capable as well)
      It has Wifi-n
      It has a browser
It has so many features that are way passed anything offered in mobile gaming now it is just bad to dismiss it based on your personal dislike of 3D. (I love 3D myself and like that this device will be pushing the industry to getting rid of the glasses)

$299 for a DS!! Good luck with that

That’s what I was saying. For $299.00, I could just go buy another PS3.

    • superchunk

That’s not the real price. That’s the direct exchange rate from the Japanese price of 25,000Y.

Nintendo typically is a a move left of the decimal, so it will be $250.00US for the 3DS.

As an example, the current DSi XL is 18.000Y and $180.00US.

If you can surf the web with this thing, I’m there.

    • superchunk

You can. It has a built in browser with wireless-n.

Well then I’m glad to tell you it’s Wi-Fi workable. (In other words, you can surf the web for free. Most of the time)

$300 boy that is steep and I really wanted to give nintendo one last try, being my Wii has been collecting dust for God know how long.

Try reading about new games. Not sure what you like, but I know I have no trouble finding great games for my Wii or PS3.

If you like action games, the Metroid Other M game was great and it is only a month old.

New Super Mario Bros is the best game out since last year on any system, especially if you have friends/family to play with.

Those are two specific for Wii but I have more for both systems if your looking.

Its not $299 in the US. That’s just the direct exchange rate conversion from the 25,000Yen pricing. However, that’s the same price the Wii launched at and its US price was $250.

Also for additional info, the DSi XL, also discussed at same conference, is priced at 18,000Y and $180US. So I would put money on the 3DS being $250 at launch which is a great price point.

      It’s $300.00 – $350.00

That’s what was said at the Nintendo 3DS Conference.

For Japan it’s $300.00 and lower.

Eejits. WHY SHOULD THEY GET IT CHEAPER????

They get them in february and us?? March!
