got the update sometimes around 11PM on Monday night but now every webpage that uses flash lags my browser like hell (stock browser.) Is there something better I can use to stop this stupid lag?

    • Biff

an iPhone should do the trick

      • Patrick

Brilliant answer, given that iPhone doesn’t do flash. Hinano, you could disable Flash if it’s causing you problems.

      • Hinano

Well that’s the temporary solution I guess….but there are some websites that I want to use the flash features of – is there another browser that handles it better? Or is it still such a new thing that there’s really no solution for this yet?

      • Maybe

Not sure if SkyFire for Android does it. Maybe give it a try though if it runs on 2.2 already

How do one disable flash…Any help?

    • Teksu

      menu -> more -> settings -> plug-ins -> “off”

      • Raj

Thanks. But I don’t see the plug-ins with on and off in Dolphin Browser.

You should be able to disable the flash plugin in your browser settings.

Just FYI, go to Settings/Applications/Running services. Kind of the same as task killer

i’m told wifi hotspot is not enabled for free only tethering. anyone else having success otherwise?

    • Mike D

That is true; you’d have to pay Spring an extra $29.99 per month to use that feature; if you send me an email with subject: FREE WIFI over EVO, I will forward you the instructions to bypass this expensive functionality.
REMEMBER to send me your CREDIT CARD NO to cover the time I spent finding that out.
I am just kidding about the last statement.

only thing i noticed is you’ll need to reinstall Swype if you’re using it – which you really should, it’s awesome.

    • Brandon

is swype and app for the evo now?

      • Robert

Swipe is in Beta for the EVO, I got it during the open beta period, and YES… it ROCKS.

  • Raul

downloaded froyo. i have no comment.

  • Amy

Just downloaded it and there is most definitely a huge difference. The keyboard is a tad bigger and less touchy, if u go through ur apps you’ll see a new flashlight (camera flash) pretty bright & kinda cute, there’s something called car dock but I haven’t figured that out yet, u can share apps now thru whatever network u want. Also, look through your settings, there is a lot of new options. Best part? I’ve been sittin here playing on my Evo for a loooong time & my battery hasn’t gone down at all. Infact I’ve been checking on it in the new setting that literally shows

  • Amy

Oops hit the send button…anyways u can now view ur battery status and adjust it to ur liking. Im going on 2 hours and like I said…full battery. As u kno…with an evo that is just a dream lol. Sorry this is so long, I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on all the new stuff ;)

Got my update, but man alive, does it take a long time to put into effect.

The download itself, running on 4G and 5 full bars, took in the neighborhood of 7-8 minutes.

It was another 5 minutes before istallation started.

Installation took so long I was certain my phone had crashed during its reboot and during the load in, all of which took another 7-10 minutes.

I then received a screen that said Cupcake had stopped unexpectedly (after all this froyo downloading and installing, cupcake’s demise was unexpected?)

I toggled through and then got hung for a few more minutes at the initial HTC screen.

From there the phone automatically went to a screen which teaches me how to use the onscreen keyboard. I dunno if this is Google in 2.2 or a place taken out of context from my Swype or SwiftKey texting programs.

This lasted a few minutes before I simply got rid of the keyboard, which yielded a new, you guessed it, LOADING page.

I am now some 35 minutes into the download/installation process, but what’s worse is I have no sense of how much longer it will take. A bar would have been nice, showing that the process was 77/79/93 percent complete, as the process carried out.

It would appear that after 36 minutes, my the install process is over.

    Time to play.
