Mystery T-Mobile HSPA+ handset is the Vanguard/G1 Blaze?

Rumor

T-Mobile launched a teaser web page for a mystery HSPA+ handset yesterday, but conveniently failed to remove some clues that point to the identity of the handset. A quick scan of the source code for the webpage reveals references to the Vanguard, an alternative name for the G1 Blaze which is also known as the HTC Vision. The Vanguard/G1 Blaze/Vision is rumored to have a 3.7 inch display, 1GHz processor, HSPA+, side-sliding QWERTY keyboard, optical trackpad, and Android 2.1 or later. With up to a theoretical 21Mbps, does anyone find the HSPA+ G1 Blaze more compelling than the WiMAX-enabled Epic 4G?

oh WAYYY more compelling! But I really dont think the outline on that page matches up with the Vision, its much too thin and the screen looks bigger. We’ll see tho…

Oh for sure, but Im really going to miss my trackball that gives me multiple color notifications on my nexus. Im so not a fan of the optical trackpad.

same here Mark I love my Nexus One but I will be Happy to Upgrade, I”ll still use my N1 as an internet and app tablet.

At least with Sprints Epic 4G you will still have 3G in areas without 4G. You are lucky to even get edge or any data with TEEN mobile in most places.

Interesting, how the source code of the page said, under Application ID, “vanguard” and now its revision says “hspa”, under a root 2, not root 1. I think these guys read your blog, heh.

For comparison reasons, this is what the source says now:
    Application ID: hspa_/LM/W3SVC/74/ROOT-2-129247438211206838

Such a device must have more than 1Gh snapdragon processor. T-Mobile needs to step it up.

dont know if i would be making a switch just for HSPA+, if you do your research it is still just an excelerated 3G. check out the comparison chart at the bottom of this article:

sorry to hurt anyones feelings but you cant compare HSPA+ to WiMax.

My feelings aren’t hurt, I get better speeds tethering my vibrant than my buddy gets with clear on his laptop…there is room for comparison afterall.

not the case here in Texas.

It does seem compelling except for the t-mobile part. Nothing works well for me in my area except for AT&T or vzw and this phone seems to be exactly what I want too from the looks and the specs. Why is life unfair???
