Rumor puts the myTouch 3G Slide's price at $150

tmo-mytouch-3g-pricing

With only a few weeks to go before sales officially kick off, retail pricing for T-Mobile’s myTouch 3G Slide has leaked out. Pegged at $399.99 on an Even More Plus plan and $149.99 with an Even More plan after $50 MIR, there’s also an option to pay $23 per month over 20 months (apparently the $3 monthly premium nets you $60 worth of accessories). A part of us wants to be believe that this information is correct and the actual pricing will be a bit lower, but considering its the same price T-Mobile is currently asking for the original and slide-less myTouch 3G, we’re not about to risk holding our breath. The myTouch 3G Slide was initially rumored to land on June 2nd, but some people who claim to be in the know are now calling for a June 16th release.

Not that I’m a Fan of tmo, but I’m really surprised android and google aren’t giving them the hottest devices as tmo was the first to carry it in the states!

    • Mike

It’s not Google’s call. It’s T-Mobile’s and whatever arrangements they make with the manufacturers.

      • OnceUponAtime

Well, What it comes down to is money. BUT one would think T-Mobile would be getting some of these great devices that are being released. They were the carrier to start the Android popularity.

      • StevenGlansburg

While they were the first to offer Android phones, it was actually Verizon that told everyone they needed it with commercials using the word DROID out of context every 5 minutes.

T-Mobile is waiting to complete their first phase HSPA + rollout.

There will be 2-3 high end Android phones to be launched on their network starting the first week of July onward.

I’ve had the opportunity to play with this phone. Sure it’s no Nexus One but it is a very decent mid range phone.

Despite the fact that the processor is not 1 GHz, the phone is still very snappy even with several apps installed.

I’m personally waiting for the new Samsung S Series which should be a very high end Android phone sold by T-Mobile in about 6 weeks.

    • tande04

There are also rumors of the “project emerald” phone which sounds like it could be an amazing new HTC phone.

Thats what I’m waiting to hear more about.

      • Danny

Supposed to be a Sidekick line replacement but with Android, slide out keyboard and high end specs.

And you’re right it’s proposed to come from HTC

      • tande04

Yep, the “sidekick twist.” (Which makes it sound to me like it will use the same “kick” that the sidekicks had but I guess we’ll see).

Could be good for the sidekick line. They’ve always been considered tween/socialite phones but with the specs they’re kicking around (1Ghz, 4.3″ screen, front facing camera, and 16GB internal storage) sounds like a phone that anyone would love to have.

    Hmmm…. $149 for a “Moment-like” device, or $199 on Sprint (a bigger 3G network) for the EVO… DUH!

    • Mark T

If all I was worried about was having coverage in all the red shaded rural areas I’d never use it, I’d sign my life away to Verizon.

      But I’m not and I don’t.

That leaves me choosing a provider based upon my usage habits, coverage in the areas I’d use it, the ability to use any global phone I’d like all at a rate plan that is fair and open.

There is really no incentive for me to sign up with a closed network/device system that Sprint uses if T-Mobile’s HSPA + network works as advertised in my area.

      • Roger A

T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network is just as much a closed network/device system as Sprint’s CDMA.

As for usage habits and coverage, Im saying that Sprint’s 3G coverage is in more places then T-Mobile has 3G. Meaning, if you live in a bigger city, you are more likely to have Sprint 3G then T-Mobile 3G, and a phone like the Touch that is only $50 less isnt a low enough price for me to sacrifice not only 3G coverage in my city, but also a slower processor.

        Think before speaking!

      • Cingular #1

Actually you should think before you speak.

Do you buy a phone because you think there will be a slow CDMA 3G connection in more cities that quite frankly you may never venture to?

I know you must work for Sprint and in desperation you troll T-Mobile discussions in a very sad attempt to confuse the readers.

T-Mobile is still expanding their standard HSPA network and a big chunk of it will be HSPA + capable by years end. So these people will be able to enjoy speeds at or even faster than what WiMax is brining to the table this year even though it’s not technically even 4G.

But please do us all a favor. If you don’t have anything to add about the myTouch 3G slider just give it a rest already. Keep convincing your colleagues at your local mall kiosk where you work that you are the best yada yada yada. I’m sure them along with a few Radio Shack hold outs share your enthusiasm.

      • Brad

You know what, it doesn’t matter that T-Mobile is expanding their network. People make buying decisions based on what service is available right here and now. If you look at T-Mobile’s 3G coverage map, it’s a joke when compared to Verizon, Sprint, or even AT&T. I live an hour away from a major metro area, and up here, all major carriers EXCEPT T-Mobile have 3G coverage in the city where I live, and even for a good chunk of surrounding rural area. Now, out at my parent’s farm, Verizon has great voice coverage, and reasonable 3G coverage, and others have only slow data and spotty voice reception, so I stay on Verizon. T-Mobile won’t even be something I’d remotely consider, unless they get 3G coverage at least in the city where I live.

      • Bunifa@SprintPOS

        @Brad

Spare me the drama.. apparently Sprint, AT&T, Verizon have 3G in your city but you still have Verizon? Oh but if “T-Mobile gets 3G in my city I might consider them”.. please, you won’t.

      • DJ Megatron

It’s one thing to say it doesn’t work well for you in your city, but you do realize that is your own personal experience right? Not to mention that you have to pay a ‘premium’ fee to have the EVO even if you don’t have 4G in your area. Now don’t get me wrong, I do understand that they need that money for faster Wi-Max deployment. But me personally I wouldn’t pay that extra $10/month for a service they don’t even offer here in Indianapolis. Wi-Max speeds are between 3-6Mbps download whereas HSPA+ starts at 7.2Mbps and is capable of up to 21Mbps.
They are numbers already being posted from Euopean carriers that are showing speeds close to that 21Mbps download. Just curious, how exactly do you know that T-mobile doesn’t have as big a 3G footprint as opposed to Sprint? Are you going by what coverage is in your area? Not calling you out, just wondering is all.

      • DJ Megatron

Opps meant to there are not they are.

  • Robert123

    Canu drift with this phone??

  • JFA

so its $149.99 AFTER a $50 MIR, which means you pay $200 upfront?!

I’m sorry, T-Mobile, you guys are really good with me, but some of the decisions you guys take on make me wonder who you guys have working at the top.

of course i’ll be skipping this, i have my Nexus :) , but once that rumored high-end HTC phone rumored for T-Mo comes out, i’ll be jumping on that.

    • galen20k

I agree same here. until that day comes however I’m Enjoying the hell out of my Nexus One although I really am excited about my next HSPA+ device!

    • MIR

For the past several months T-Mobile has been giving the discount instantly online for smartphones so you don’t have to do the MIR.

Not sure why this one would be any different…

Why don’t you check the online portal first when it’s released?

  • Teddy

I remember when RAZRs were $150 too.. wow, times have changed.

    • Cingular #1

Try $500 when they were first launched with Cingular!!!

      Can you believe it?

  • Sandra

I currently have the Moment with Sprint but looking to port out by mid July. The constant billing errors and mixed bag customer support both in store and over the phone have given me a sour taste of them.

Will T-Mobile USA get a high end Android phone by them? I know they work good in my area since my employer gives us BlackBerry Bold 9700′s that use the T-Mobile network.

I also hear that UMA will be available for T-Mobile Android phones later this year. This feature is killer.

    • Cingular #1

The new Samsung Galaxy S series is rumored for a quick launch by the first half of July.

I think T-Mobile knows there will be some buzz over the new iPhone and a little bit about the EVO so they’ll probably wait about 2 weeks later to mass market this new device.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the old Touch Wiz UI, but after seeing the new TW UI on youtube, I’m sold. Plus the screen on this will be big enough to be comfortable yet not as wide as a house like the EVO is. And naturally, it will support simultaneous voice and data all over T-Mobile’s HSPA network. The killer feature of this phone is Samsung’s patented Super AMOLED screen which will look great even in direct sunlight.

      • Sandra

Thanks I’ll be looking for more info on that Sammy.

But I’ll probably open up a new account in June and get my 2 sons and daughter the new myTouch slides. They’re in high school now and this will be there first smartphone each.

  • BradisDesperate

@ Brad: I’m sure T-Mobile is a joke cause they don’t have 3G in your area. Because we all know that if a company doesn’t serve your little town they are a joke.

Sure buddy. Nice try Roger. Nice try.

Nobody cares about your town. This thread is about the MT3G Slide. Do you have anything relative to share?

  • tmoz

it’s true, that pricing is correct

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

  • http://robert.aitchison.org Robert Aitchison

Ugh $400 is quite a lot for a phone with these features. I’m really itching for an upgrade for my G1 but this isn’t that much of an upgrade for that kind of money.

  • DWK

Off the subject but is there any possibility that T-Mo will carry Palm Pre or Pixi Plus?

  • woowoo

    if they do…don’t buy it…i own a pre…awful hardware.

  • Jefffaray

Does anyone know if there’s a way to upgrade to the mytouch 3g slide through mytouch 3g, without waiting the full 2 years?
