Sprint closing early on June 5th to gear up for Pre launch; open early on the 6th?

Exclusive

We all know the launch of the Palm Pre will be unlike any other at Sprint. It will launch on a Saturday instead of the typical Sprint Sunday launch, giving the carrier one full weekend to move units before Apple’s big announcement the following Monday. Thanks to one of our ninjas, we now know the carrier is apparently making some nationwide changes to Sprint Store operating hours as well. Firstly, our ninja says stores will be closing early at 4:00pm on Friday, June 5th. Employees will likely have to stick around for a while to set up Pre displays and whatever else Sprint plans to deck out retail locations with. Then on Saturday, Pre launch day, stores should be open bright and early at 8:00am and employees will be ready and waiting to trade you a shiny new Pre in exchange for $299.99 plus taxes ($100 comes back via MIR). So — anyone planning to line up early or do you think Pre hype is just that, and buyers can take their time getting over to local shops?

1st How is sprint horrible???? Sprint doesnt tax anyone the GOVERNMENT DOES!!!!!! Before you say anything you have no knowledge of do research all taxes are government issued and state related charges…

2nd when was the last time you called sprint customer care if you ever have??? Do me a favor call them and see how long you sit on hold if you even get put on any hold time at all.

3rd I’m sure this has been said before lets stop beating a dead horse and trying to ride out the ptt that is an old and dead technology nobody cares for anymore all the general public wants now is data and texting with some minutes to go for the people we care to talk to.

ps yes tmobile has a nice cheap plan but there is a reason when people talk about cell phone service that only 3 companies in the United States are talked about… Tmobile can offer those cheap plans and beat all wireless carriers with that but they certainly can’t compare with anything else

Actually I don’t know that there will be lines.

The reason that iPhone sold so well was the advertising blitz that made EVERYone drool. Not just fanboys and geeks. EVERYone. While i think that Pre has some really nice features and I want one more than I want an iPhone, nearly every non techie I have spoken with have no idea what the Pre is or that it is coming. Or what it can do.

Unless Palm starts to advertise more than the sad “Now Network” Sprint has going. This phone isn’t going to make an iDent at all…

Sprint everything data for two lines, 1500 minutes, unlimited txt: $130

I believe that beast the mainstream competition.

Also, I’ve had Sprint for four years now. They pulled some annoying stunts on a rebate issue two years ago, but I’ve never had a long hold time or major misbilling issues. The Pre is a no-brainer for me.

Well, actually I’m excited about the Pre. I’ve had a Palm phone for years now and I’m thrilled they’re having a slider phone. However, the people constantly complaining about the bills, should terminate or not start a contract whatsoever. As of now, I’m still on the $30 data plan, unlimited texts, etc. and the way I use my smartphone it’s well worth it. I understand that I will have to make changes, go to the everything data plan for $130 but it wouldn’t bother me, I’ve been a Sprint customer for over 9 years and I’ve had great service (my friends keeps having signal loss with AT&T). I have two lines and both use the Internet and all like crazy. Constantly complaining is not going to help anything. I think it’s quite reasonable, esp. if there are two lines(or more) using the data like crazy. It would probably help bill costs instead of paying for each individual line to have data plans.

I just called my local Sprint store, they are saying that they’re opening at 10am, and not 8am…anyone else getting this?
