T-Mobile’s Walmart roadmap: T-Mobile G1 v2

So check this, our brothers and sisters at TmoToday broke news of this second iteration of the T-Mobile G1 aka Bigfoot (aka Morrison according to the Walmart roadmap). But we’ve uncovered something very sexy — an awesome image! Full slide-out HTC-style QWERTY? Check. Look for this to drop in October for $148 with a 2-year agreement at Walmart (so, $149.99 on T-Mobile then?). If the hit or miss hardware design of the G1 wasn’t your thing and the Magic’s lack of QWERTY has you disappointed, the G1 v2 is where it’s at.

      Why would you wait for this one? It doesn’t seem like a good choice. Who cares about a physical qwerty keyboard, Swype is a much better deal. I have it on mytouch 3g ver 1.2 and it rocks. I can text 2 to 3 times faster with swype than a qwerty keyboard. It’s also easy to use./

    comment on the info, the g1 v2 is not the bigfoot or morrison, those are separate phones. the bigfoot is by samsung and the morrison is by motorola

      I think you have to be right… I’m surprised that no one besides me has noticed that the phone pictured is almost exactly the same. The only physical difference is the keyboard. I’m REALLY surprised that BGR didn’t catch/notice that.

    Yeah i have this phone it’s made by motorola. It’s being released on vodafone. 5mp camera, 3.5mm jack, all the nice stuff you could want

    Why Walmart? Why not. That’s a huge outlet to sell phones.

    Walmart sells the Touch Pro2, the most expensive phone for sale to date.

    In any event, this is being billed as a phone that will make or break (or save) Motorola, so you want to get the phone into as many hands as possible. Walmart is a natural.

    Besides, I thought Walmart is really an extension of third party vendor LetsTalk.com

    This would be good news for consumers as I bet the phone goes for $100 on a two year contract, for new customers, and $200 for existing T-Mobile customers.

    I got the G1 for my birthday last month, and its my first phone. Being 14, I had been waiting a long while for a phone. It was definitely worth the wait because the G1 is amazing! Of course I did get it post Cupcake, so it came with all the features it should’ve had in the first place. I’m very excited for this phone because I just don’t see how the G1 can be topped. Also, can I get confirmation on the flash player rumor?

      The G1 was topped by the Mytouch 3g and the Mytouch 3g 1.2 with swype. Swype is a much better and faster way of texting than a qwerty keyboard.

    Malachai… congrats on the G1. I have that phone too, in addition to the T-Mobile Touch Pro2.

    The G1 is an awesome phone. There is a lot you can do with it, to have lots of fun. What I like best about it is Android market that lets you download programs for free.

    Yes, Cupcake is a great OS. Adding camcorder capability was essential.

    Flash is not a rumor, it’s coming out in the next update. Speculation is that Donut (1.6) will have it and that is coming out soon.

    Thank God the G1v2 didn’t end up being the Cliq. That would have been a huge step down. The G1 is still a better phone than the Cliq

    if this is the new g1 v2 it looks like crap they need to fire the design team… look at the nexus one and the new htc hd2 10 times better… The qwerty keypad is very nice to have. i was really hoping for this to be the better of the 3 looks like im gonna be disapointed

      The keyboard is admittedly different but the face, body, USB, volume rocker & vibrate switch are all in the exact same place as the Cliq which means that this is not an HTC device and most likely a fake or a newer release of the Cliq which I hope never happens…
