SlingCatcher finally shipping

General

There’s probably over 40 people I know personally that will be screaming all sorts of unprintable curse words because they have no other way to express their excitement. Many of you have been waiting for this to finally be released, and hey, if you’re a big traveler, what could be better than setting this up in an hotel room and watching your own TiVo at home? Well, Sling’s SlingCatcher will be available online and at various big box retailers starting today. Plus there’s also SlingProjector software which effectively throws up some online video hotness right to your television set. We’re excited.

Call me ignorant, but what exactly does the SlingCatcher and SlingProjector do that the SlingBox didn’t?

BTW, that is one huge and weirdly shaped remote right there!

Its the opposite of a Slingbox. It recieves a Slingboxes signal and displays it on a TV. It can also clone your computer display and show it on the tv.

I was just gonna say… the remote control doesn’t look ergonomically correct. Otherwise, pretty suh-weet!

Didn’t they announce this almost 2 years ago? Finally. So instead of taking crap off your cable box or DVR and sending it over the internet this thing does the opposite. It takes content from your pc and the internet and sends it to your TV–ala Apple TV.

well it does more than take ‘crap’ off of your PC “ala Apple TV”

You have a sling box in the family room, you now want to watch that DVR’s programming in another room. Buy this and you avoid the monthly fees from Cable and Satellite providers by having multiple boxes, you can watch the programming live or whatever is on the DVR right on another TV of your choice.

Just cancelled my order. The early reviews from ‘real” buyers are quite negative on Amazon and other places I looked. Also seems Mac support for SlingPlayer 2.0, Sling Projector, and iPhone is NO where in sight. I knew it was Windows only when I place the order and was willing to use my Windows machines until I saw the reviews. I will wait until to see if they are able to sort this out first.
